Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

No full back currently provides more open play assists in the PL than Vlad. However, his age is prohibitive in terms of lengthy contract extensions and some might argue that there are broader parts of the game we might be looking for improvements in. Johnson's probable departure means we'll most lik...

Let's improve the deal and get right back sown up for a few more years, currently one of the best in the league in that position.
He's 32 in August.

Re: Declan Rice

I don't see Arsenal any differently than any other top 6 club Arsenal was about 3 or 4 miles from where I grew up. Pretty much the same distance as West Ham, just a different road/tube. At school, on the council estate, at work. They were there. Manchester and Liverpool weren't. And that period fro...

Re: Season ticket renewal 24/25

They can also double-dip on seats via Ticket exchange. It would be interesting to know what proportion of STs actually go up on TE? I rarely put my seniors ticket up, but on the one or two occasions I have I rarely get anywhere near the £26 ave per game When I used to put mine up, the amount back v...

Re: What did you watch last night?

Two surprisingly enjoyable things that should be awful.. 1980s Supermarket on C5 - which turned into a bit of history story about microwaves, supermarket sandwiches, the birth of distance food shopping....and who can resist a bit of Rustie Lee laughing at everything? Then the Imdb rated 5.5 (i.e pre...

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread

A point here would be a reasonable return - two evenly matched teams in the main.

Anything more, lovely jubbly.

The big test is how we deal with Alvarez' absence. Suspect a midfield three of Soucek, JWP, Paqueta - no place for Phillips.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I can't see it, personally. I reckon he'll end up playing for one of our North London neighbours (with Spurs possibly shifting Richarlison so as to do the deal). Not sure he plays with the intensity Aussie Ardiles wants. Bargain punt for Arsenal possibly, if they can offload Nketiah. Jesus is anoth...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

One thing I didn't realise with Toney is how much of a chunk of any fee Peterborough and Newcastle are entitled to. That's changed my mind a bit about Brentford's desire to cash in though Thomas Frank was quite blatantly saying he expected him to be sold this summer in the media the other day.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I'm not seeing much to suggests he trusts any of those in italics or red. Including making Phillips one of his bigger money signings this summer. I don't think we'll see the wild numbers of signings some are suggesting for this summer (as usual) but I do think someone that can fill (and improve on)...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Going by your 20 trusted players mark (which I think is pretty spot on), it's an even starker gap. I'd say there are 13 players definitely in that group and a number of doubtfuls. Areola, Fabianski Zouma, Mavropanos, Coufal, Emerson, Aguerd, Ogbonna , Johnson , Cresswell Alvarez, Soucek, JWP, Phill...

I don't think we do, TBH.

They, and Kehrer, were superfluous, imo.

Moyes needs 20 senior players who he trusts, rather than 23 with 8 or 9 who he doesn't.

The academy should be providing players 21-25 in the PL set up.

Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

Watkins will have been the biggest loser last night. He himself hasn’t even played badly but Toney looked a better fit and Bowen probably did enough to get in the squad which means the 23 will have Kane, Toney, Bellingham and Bowen as centre forward options, probably in that order. Rashford can be ...

The lesser-feted players in the front 6 have been better than the 'world-class' ones.
