Re: what pub have you been in today ? Rate it out of 10

I can put up with all of that for the sake of the decent beer. You ever been to Zeigeist in Vauxhall? Better range than most of the Oktoberfest, bier hall style places and more like an actual pub. Always have German footie on - seems like it's the place where local supporter clubs go to watch. http...

Re: Going Underground! (the train & public transport thread)

Has to be the slowest line in existence. Do the trains ever go over 20mph on that line? Hasn't it improved now with all the new trains and that? Used to use the Silverlink when popping back to Essex from North London. Quite a bleak line. Recall someone changing the sign at Harringay Green Lanes to ...

Re: Draught beer at home

Probably fun for a while, but seem to be an easy way for the corporate lads like Beerhawk and Beerwulf to get you tied into a subscription service. Small outlay for the pump, then you need to keep it filled. And it is it really any better drinking macro lagers out of a keg than a can/bottle? Persona...

Re: Buying A New Television - 2 -

I bought a Samsung QLED the other week. It's great. A few thoughts... Backlight bleed is mildly annoying if you watch a film with black bars top/bottom. The picture is amazing otherwise - 4K stuff off Amazon Prime looks incredible, as do old films that iTunes has upgraded to 4K. Watched a remastered...

Re: Beer/Lager Thread

Tesco have got a load of craft beers/IPA, sort of made for them, a lot of them are lovely Yeah, their range is amazing now. Just launched some new ones the other week - the Cloudwater BrewDog one is brilliant, as is the BrewDog Hazy Jane. A lot of the independent beer shops are getting pretty worri...

Re: Home wifi and networking

Similar to AlfieG's suggestion, I have Virgin Media but the WiFi dropped out of kitchen after we knocked down some walls and put a massive steel up. I got google WiFi - the 3 pack version. I got Google Wifi too. Signal in the loft was terrible - had an extension done and the router was on the groun...

Re: Your worst ever hangover

First time I every drank into double figures - pints of Kronenburg at the Last Post in Southend. Had to go to work the next day in Halfords and had to dash out of the shop mid mountain bike sale to be sick in a skip. Went home at lunchtime.

Re: Costco

Remember getting taken there in the mid 90s by my mate whose Mum had a card - was buzzing. Got there to find essentially an aircraft hanger full of utter tat. I bought 2 Tommy Hilfiger shirts that had the logos stitched in the wrong place.

Re: Beer/Lager Thread

For lovers of Czech pilsners - try the Sainsburys own brand. 500ml bottle for £1.25 a pop - better than Budvar, Staropramen or any of the other major versions I've tried. Really, really good. Yeah, I like that beer. I think Staropramen actually make it for them, don't they? Might be getting mixed u...

We used to get the same stuff until not that long ago - real shame. My Dad bought some bottles back last year and we did a comparison. We were admittedly pretty drunk, but the German bottles were a lot nicer. So crips.

Re: Beer/Lager Thread

Well, from what I've seen, they're intent on turning their pubs into gastro pubs and any pub that had amassed any character, their business plan is to rip the heart out of it and put an emphasis on dining and food. Isn't that also kind of the plan with Fullers? I reckon they'll do a better job than...

Re: Beer/Lager Thread

No need to drink crap beer anymore. Every supermarket now has a pretty decent selection - Tesco and Waitrose in particular have got a great range in these days. If we're talking lager though, my go to's are usually... M&S - Paulaner Munchner Hells Waitrose - Lost and Grounded Keller Pils Sainsburys ...

Re: I can’t drive….

But no longer. I want to be driving be the end of the summer so I need to make it happen. Just get on the AA website and book some lessons! I kept making excuses but once the ball was set in motion it was impossible to stop it - I had to do the lessons. Once the first few were out the way, it was f...

Re: I can’t drive….

It never ceases to amaze me the number of adults who get to their thirties and forties and cannot drive. It's all I wanted to do when I was 16/17, and I booked my theory and my test as soon as I could. I passed my test within 7 months of my 17th birthday. It's often out of your hands, to be fair. D...

Re: I can’t drive….

I’m 37 and I can’t drive. I took one test when I was 17, failed and then moved out so had no money to pay for more lessons. I then moved to London where it seemed pointless and I’ve just made excuse after excuse ever since. My wife does all the driving and it’s a constant form of embarrassment and ...

Yep, enough of the whataboutery and semantics. Everyone knows the guy was way out of line. Ban the f**king idiot. No place for it and makes us all look like knuckle-draggers.
