Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

When I see names like Benitez, a great manager in his day, but his day has gone, Cooper and Potter mentioned I can genuinely understand what the "careful what you wish for" brigade mean. The whole point of changing a manager surely is to upgrade on the one presently in the job. Does anybod...

Re: The David Moyes Myths Thread

I agree that there are always some people who will try to further their agenda by colouring things up a little. Imo it does precisely the opposite. It dilutes the validity of the argument. There are many valid reasons for believing the Moyes era has run it's course without resorting to unnecessary t...

Horrible thing to happen at any time but particularly unfortunate it happened to the kid so soon after coming on for his league debut.

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm

Some might say that the huge salaries they're on should be motivation enough. Salary will never be a motivation in itself if it isn't linked to results and achievement. In the real world the more succesful the individual the bigger the monthly pay cheque. In football that is rarely the case I belie...

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm

Our goalkeeper being MOTM two games running tells you all you need to know. Tick tock DM, your time is up I reckon. :thdn: Let's be brutally frank, our goalkeeper, usually Areola, has been MOTM in a num ber of games this season. Not surprising as we have apparently allowed more shots on our goal th...

Re: Sociopolitical spectrum of football

I think I'm going have to nod in agreement, generally, with your other question, to the effect that there is no adequate definition, at least not in the modern era. The proportion of the population born into the kind of wealth that provides for them without needing to lift a finger to generate thei...

Re: Sociopolitical spectrum of football

It's not just a British thing though is it , Kermit and while I wholeheartedly agree with you I would say that those on £100k are able to support their families far better than those on say £25k - stands to reason , and before you say it I'm aware of mortgages / rent costing more in certain areas ....

Are people without families not working class?
Using my criteria I guess it depends whether they have to go out to work to support themselves as opposed to having independent means.

Indeed. Frightfully inconvenient when it was cook's day off and one had to open one's own can of baked beans.

Re: Sociopolitical spectrum of football

One sure way is your pronunciation of ' Uranus ' . That and your salary . I've never got the British obsession with lumping people into "class" groups tbh. Surely everybody who has to go to work to support their families is, by definition, "working class" ? As opposed to, say, b...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Likewise. I thought it was the "Moyes In" crowd who shoot down discussion? My entire point is that our bench does not have quality, our game plan worked for 80 minutes and then they brought on Boniface and Hofmann. David Moyes looked at his bench and half of them are still schoolboys, and...

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm

Depends on the mindset of those inside the club who lines up for this one I guess. Personally I think Europe next season is now a non starter but I would assume Moyes will want to give it a big push for the Leverkusen return. That being the case I think it would be sensible to introduce a couple of ...

Constantly people let players off the hook for poor performances and blame the club. We didn’t misuse him, he didn’t want to be here and stunk the place out. Maybe we didn't misuse him but he alone cannot be blamed for being bang average in our colours. If you sign a player it is, presumably, because you have watched him and believe he can fit in with the team's particulart style o...

Re: The kids are all right

Yep growing up in the 80s there was the 'big 5' as you mention. I don't have such a 'hatred' of the current echelon as others do, as no doubt it will change a bit over time, as it always has However, i don't like the idea of the Premier League (including West Ham) putting the rest of the pyramid in...

Re: Midweek Games April 9-11

Why? I support West ham and always are more up for a game we are paying in Also the Haller goal is bad for our chances of playing in Europe next year, we really want Dortmand to lose So I guess I don't agree with you much I was thinking more of the health issues he's been through. And if we don't q...
