Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

We can’t debate the Coufal extension in a vacuum - we have to consider the overall squad needs. Do we split our spend and FFP capacity across centre back and right back (and therefore compromise on both) or do we kick the can down the road on right back to get the best centre back we can. That’s the...

Think he signed a three year contract in 2021 with an option mate - so depends on that option and whether we can exercise it without his agreement. Don’t think it’s entirely clear tbh.

Re: Declan Rice

Of course he has improved massively. He’s now working under a manager who is so good that he doesn’t need to revert to encouraging his team to cheat by feigning injury and rolling on to the pitch, constantly berating the ref on the pitch and moaning about unfair treatment off it, routinely tactical ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

He's 32 in August. I get the debate with Coufal and his age, let’s be honest we’ve overpaid in salary and term for players over 30 before and it can bite you in the arse. But my concern is that we can’t fix everything all at once and need to play football economics a bit whilst building the squad o...

Re: The kids are all right

He sees them at that level every time they train with the first team. The whole discussion basically boils down to whether you trust the manager. I would bet that most of the people calling for these players to be picked by Moyes aren’t actually aware they are younger than Liverpool’s batch and hav...

If he does leave west ham in the summer he’ll be able to pretty much pick his role at pretty much any of the bottom half clubs who change their manager mid season next year….that’s assuming he doesn’t go Celtic.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I’m with Pinky. Two CB’s, two full backs and a left sided attacker. I would be encouraging the Saudi’s to bid on both Zouma and Aguerd personally. I hope we don’t blow most of our money on a central striker, a CAM and a wide left option then try and ‘get by’ at the back…it’s clearly where the most i...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Our CB’s have been so bad that I thought Ogbonna might get a game. The fact he hasn’t even no makes me wonder why you’d resign him. I like him and get the leadership argument but surely they don’t rely on him as 4th choice Agree with this. I think he’s our best defender in many ways - but the lack ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Honourable comments from Paqman but I think it highly likely that he's off - no issues if City want him. Tim will likely have a kitty of £180m to £200m, especially if Aguerd or Zouma are sold and the saints get promoted and throw £20m on the table for Downes. Its gonna be a super busy summer for Ti...

Re: Top Flight Clubs Fail to Agree EFL Funding Deal

The reality is that no one knows whether government intervention would be a good thing or not for us fans - your view is likely a Rorschach test of how you feel about government intervention more broadly. I wouldn’t trust the current government to babysit my goldfish - but if an independent body set...

Re: Top Flight Clubs Fail to Agree EFL Funding Deal

Ironic that Sullivan is complaining about the incompetence of the government if they were to get more involved with football when it is that same incompetent approach to sport that almost directly led to him sitting on hundreds of million £ profit from his West Ham investment.

Considering he’s about 95 years old I thought Digne played well and was largely the reason for them getting back into it.

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips

It was still a **** window Bubbs. We may have addressed one issue (dependent on whether Phillips can improve his performance considerably) but we left so much on the table… - CB not addressed - Manager’s best option to come off bench in the absence of Fornals and Benrahma seems to now be Ben Johnson...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

Very frustrated - not just this game but the direction football has and is going in. Don’t think it’s corrupt but definitely believe there is unconscious bias - and more so than ever as Sky would replay errors against the Sky 6 for days on end whilst publicly criticising the ref yet forget about poo...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

Should have relegated them a few years back Hating the Villa love in at the moment Conveniently missing the fact they’ve spent a **** load of money (incl wages and fees for free agents) and yet everyone is talking like Emery has done it all organically. Good manager for sure - but let’s not pretend ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Back in for Harry Maguire at £15m/£20m - last year of his contract, 31 years old. https://www.thesun.ie/sport/12550229/harry-maguire-man-utd-west-ham-transfer-bid/ I get why Moyes wants him and he’d 100% be our best defender. But I’d be very concerned about being strung out all summer by Man Utd (a...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Ait Nouri looks a player. Could play left wing or left back. Maybe bigger clubs would be in for him, but as a replacement for Cresswell and the left wing position he would be ideal. He’s definitely looked good. Whilst Wolves may not be in immediate FFP danger I suspect they will need to sell to buy...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips

I wonder if he’s suffering from not really knowing what type of midfielder he is a bit. Bielsa doesn’t really play his defensive mids in a traditional deep, holding style then add to that his appearances for England tend to be ahead of Rice and when he’s played for Man City they’ve tended to dominat...
