Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

Clinging onto the hope that complacency sets in with Leverkusen tonight. We hardly laid a glove on them in the first leg, we are 2-0 down and they have just won the domestic title without losing a game... they may be thinking they just have to turn up. If Bowen is fit it puts a massive spin on this ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Finished 5th in the league with Arsenal - a 'top six' club. Has the same number of European trophies as Moyes in the past 4 years Emery has won the Europa 4 times and been runner up once, that is with three different clubs. Also won everything there was to win in France, all be it with PSG so it wa...

Re: Midweek games

Am I right in thinking that our game v Liverpool will stay on Saturday now that Arsenal are out??

Can't remember why it was having a knock on effect but I seem to recall it was.

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

We couldn't get Ings to work against Fulham, against whom we at least had a chance of having a fair share of possession; surely even Moyes sees that he'd be a complete waste of time against Leverkusen who had 73% possession on Thursday. Ings is not an 'up front, on his own' type of player. Hence it...

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

I can't see him going with the same formation as the first leg now that we are 2-0 down. Had that plan worked we may have looked to replicate it, but it didn't and we are now 2-0 down so we need to give it a go. I'd imagine that with Bowen, it will be... Mushy and I are on that same train…. ! He’s just gone quickly to the buffet car. Free chocolate Mushy! I was in the car next to the buffet, absolute nightmare when they announced that, the sliding door was doing my head in, whole train came past us! I spotted UTJ with a glass of vino in the main sq...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

:the fact no one is callinng for Cornet - or anyone else really shows how threadbare our squad is With Alvarez and Bowen out, Moyes is left having to decide who his least rubbish 'other' player is to be the 11th man. Assuming Fabianski, Coufal, Mavropanos, Zouma, Emerson, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Kudus...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Johnson could have a stormer and anybody who says he can't defend didn't see his run of games in Europe last season but I wouldn't risk him despite his great game at Wolves. I'd go with your first option. He might have to play in the middle for us in this one. Phillips can't be trusted, Alvarez is ...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

This is proper stuff, has the feel of the Sevilla, Lyon and Frankfurt games to me as we are up against a real quality European side here. I don't think we have faced a team this strong since we played Sevilla, I'd even argue this is tougher than that tie as this team has a genuine chance to go throu...

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United - match thread

A player stands totally on his own, in front of the keeper to deliberately obstruct him, even backs into the keeper before the ball is played (to further distract him), and is then in an offside position smack bang in the middle of the goal (and eye line of the keeper) as the shot comes in. That isn...

Re: How do you solve the Edson Problem?

He missed both games against TSC in Europe, which we won, but I'm not sure they count. In the FA Cup he played the first game at home when we drew but was missing when we lost in Bristol. In the Premier League he has missed Bournemouth (drew), Brentford (lost), Fulham (lost), Sheff Utd (drew), Newca...

Poor subs from Moyes today.
Left us with absolutely no outlet and combined with a VAR farce it ended up costing us all three points.

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread

Terrible decisions cost us a win today. I don't see how either pen can be given. Gordon spent the whole game putting his foot in from behind and then going down like he'd been shot. He was buying fouls all over the park. The first was questionable and pretty clumsy from Coufal, but the second was an...
