Re: Five Countries
^^ on the flip side I'd say Japan is just about the safest place I've ever visited. Even late at night women seemed very happy to walk in the streets alone unharrassed, the place was spotlessly clean (despite a conspicuous lack of litter bins), multiple drinks vending machines in full working order ...

Re: Five Countries
I see it mentioned a lot, and I've just come back from three weeks holiday in Japan - fabulous place, wonderful people, delicious food, so would highly recommend although I feel I barely scratched the surface of what there is to see and do there

Appalling decision, Gordon was nowhere near the ball and blocked Phillips from kicking it. If anything should be the other way round

Currently on a bullet train heading out of Tokyo towards Kyoto, sat two seats away from David Walliams.
Seems quite pleasant even though it looks as if he’s just flown into the country

Just read up on the coefficient scenario as West Ham have boosted English clubs Champions league places to 5th place in the league but also European places up to 8th place ...possibly Come on you mighty IRONS ⚒️⚒️ According to UEFA the Germans are still above us: 1. Re: Club Cash update.
As a long-distance ST holder I use the scheme a lot, and while it has a few faults I think for the most part this is a scheme that the club gets mostly right and should be commended for it. I have used it for Euro matches and home tickets for my daughter, but the bulk goes towards next season's ST. ...

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Have to say it was a breeze getting in yesterday no queuing at security or the turnstiles. Has someone organised the piss up in a brewery ? Depends on when you arrived - I was there on the main central bridge at about 1:30pm and the queues were huge, not fun in the wet weather of course, my mate wh...

Has anyone managed to kick the ball out of the London Stadium yet, or at least hit the roof or floodlights? I remember a few going over the Chicken Run.

Re: Nah, he plays as a Trequartista - but make sure someone holds in a double pivot
I've been to 500+ games and watched thousands on TV, but I don't understand half the terminology or spot the tactics that pundits (TV and armchair) talk about, so I've come to the realisation I understand very little about football. Which is strange because every 4 years I suddenly become an expert ...

For my 40th we did the following, every day was as good as the next, would do it again in a heartbeat. The whole trip was about 20 days or so: - Flight to Las Vegas, couple of days there - Zion Canyon - Bryce Canyon - Drive the northern route to Monument Valley (a long day, but possibly the most stu...

On a similar note there are a couple of foreign enclaves within Switzerland - the German Büsingen in the North and Italian Campione d’Italia in the South. They have a complicated mix of laws, currencies, tax treaties, phone systems, car registrations, etc

A friend of mine hosted one a couple of years ago here in Switzerland. As I'm half-Scottish and have all the garb to wear I was asked to address the haggis and read out the Burns poem. As I can't really do a Scottish accent without sounding like Private Fraser from Dads' Army I didn't even attempt i...

Re: Honours List 2024
The honours list is just trinkets for the plebs, another way of propping up the relevance of the Monarchy. Getting made a Sir or a Dame is still lower than the lowest ranks of chivalry. A couple of years ago a good friend of mine was awarded an MBE for setting up a charity that collects food from r...
