Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium
Because as a 54yo I’ve spent the majority of my youth wanting them to win and do well and all I’ve ever heard back is I hate England and want them to lose. So now I sit here laughing and actually quite pleased to see Lewandowski have a last hurrah Yep, same for me. Those Welsh celebrations when Eng...

WTF have they done to his head?
I love this. It needs to installed somewhere highly visible, so we can laugh at it for decades to come.

Re: Leicester charged with spending breach
I noticed on Sky last night that Kaveh Solhekol was saying how all of this madness has to end and changes need to be made to stop this from overtaking football. Wouldn’t be surprised in the least if these changes happen just in time to stop Chelsea and Man City being hauled over the coals. It seems ...

Re: Leicester charged with spending breach
Leicester, who were relegated at the end of last season, said they are "surprised" and "disappointed" by the timing of the Premier League's actions, when the club is not in the top flight. Don’t worry guys, that points deduction will be here waiting for you when you return :newt...

Just as a BTW, the compensation being mentioned of £3k looks to be insulting. At that level, that would equate to around £10 billion for the tax payer. £10k compensation per person is around £35 billion. Not trivial sums for working people to have to fund. Nobody thought about compensation for the ...

I’ve been trying to work out a good recipe for a Cadbury’s creme scotch egg. Very much a work in progress, and some way from being realised. Plenty of recipes to give you a guide. I think I got diabetes just reading them. https://www.oetker.co.uk/recipes/r/creme-egg-scotch-egg https://www.janespati...

I’m so delighted.
The smug Liverpool fans on the Sutton and Savage Radio 5 phone in earlier were insufferable when they were winning.

I’d probably have taken a 1-1 draw at the start, but the nature of it just feels like I’ve been kicked violently in the nether regions at the final whistle.

Re: Little things in life that make you smile
I abandoned minced beef decades ago, and it took a while to find the best beef cut for the meat sauce. Shin is also good, and I'll get that if I can't get feather steak. Keep meaning to try oxtail, which might lend some nice bone marrow to the sauce. A beautiful slow cooked oxtail ragu would be ama...

Bought a gooseberry bush today.
I know they can be a bit tricky to grow well, but when they are happy and in the right place, can give you loads of fruit.
It’s my first gooseberry bush (£3.99 from Aldi), so let’s see how I get on.

I make a slow-cooked red sauce from seared pieces of feather steak, well-chopped & sweated onions, leeks, carrots, celery, fennel & garlic. Cans of tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, splash of balsamic vinegar & home made stock (usually chicken/veg, occasionally beef if we have any) comp...
