Re: Cost of living crisis

Stop fighting wars and there'll be more money to go around then. Pretty simple really. Although then there'd be no need for defence contractors, the armed forces, and all the trillions of tax dollars that funds them. Hence the need for "division" and an "enemy" There is a fundam...

Re: Cost of living crisis

Good news for those who need a new deal. Still 5.5 years left on our 10 year. Nothing smart just like knowing my outgoings. I'd of signed 25 years if they would have let me If the products were available I would have given my left nut for a long-term deal for the same reason. I like predictability.

Re: Cost of living crisis

Another week and another mortgage application. This application sees a significant drop in the rate - 4.23%. Eight weeks the best rate I could get was 5.25%. Although 1.02% may not see a lot, in terms of monthly payments, it's significant. I think I will run out of time, but by late spring/early sum...

Re: The Post Office Scandal

Of the £58 million compensation handed out to the victims they only received £12 million after weighing out legal costs and the investors, isn't it usual for the loser to have to pay the winners costs? Surely after this ruling lawyers will be falling themselves to pursue damage claims? Depends on w...

Re: The Post Office Scandal

If you want to know what it was like trying to get to the bottom of what was going on, this is a an excellent read on the various Panoramas and the Post Office tactics to keep them off air. Rare you see such forceful language in a BBC piece. Very good in fact. Although I got so angry watching it, I...

Re: Street parking for stansted

Did they not notice the airport when they moved in? It's more a case of having someone parking in front of your house for 2 weeks. In some cases, people have parked across driveways in a handful of cases actually on people's drives. If you ever drove to Upton Park, you'd know that if there were con...

Re: Street parking for stansted

You should consider the cost of parking versus 4 new tyres and/or having to respray the multiple panels. Got a mate who lives near Stansted and the natives have got the raging hump about hsbing holiday makers parking on their streets, with some taking matters into their own hands. Some motors have a...

Re: Summer Holidays

I don't think I'm having a holiday this year - just don't have the money. I'm not even in a position to do a little 4 day road trip or anything like that. Kinda sucks, really. In that summer period between lockdowns, where travelling was just too much of a ballache, the wife and I took a week off, ...

Re: Cost of living crisis

I don't know about M&S, but I looked into the Tesco accounts (what was available) a while back to see what was going on. Their actual profit margin on groceries was about the same as pre-Covid, however, the big increase was the payoff from previous investments they made in their wholesale and l...

Re: In other news

My point being all parties involved still tried to cover it up, years after it first came to light I think this is simply the Twitterarti political points scoring again, mainly by know-nothing *****, who think a quick Google search provides them with the empirical evidence required to prove their p...

Re: In other news

:newthumb: The question of all the questions right there RR. Although I have known about this case for a good few years, the more that comes out - especially the number of people who have lost their houses, their reputations and in some cases their lives, the angrier I get. I don't think I have eve...

Re: US roadtrip

If you want a scenic drive, then give Florida a swerve. Last year I drove from Jacksonville to Miami and it was possibly the most mundane piece of driving I think I have ever done. Worse than the M25. California however was way better and I enjoyed driving there. I think with the States, we here in ...

Re: Summer Holidays

I'm determined to take the kids for a summer holiday this year. The youngest two have never been abroad, and the eldest not since he was a baby. Everywhere is bloody expensive though. I just want a week in the sun somewhere where there's a pool, a bar and some entertainment for the kids. I'll be sp...

Re: In other news

You've got to give the right brown envelopes to the right people, and of course tell the public that we don't need none of that "red tape" nonsense. That takes nouse. I was saying to Mrs RR over my Shreddies this morning, that it just confirms my feeling that corporate Britain (and US) is...

Re: The Sunak Government 2022-

****ing hell, they're desperate aren't they? Are they or are they looking to influence their readers, the majority of whom have the vote? Whether you or I think it's desperate or not is somewhat moot as we both have our allegiances or more to the point, we know who we definitely won't vote for. It'...

Do you think Vennells thinks that giving back her meaningless trinket is punishment enough? I think we need to see the results of the Public Enquiry, but if she and/or her predecessors including Adam Crozier (anyone who works at the FA - Sir Trev aside - is a massive ****) are found complicit, then...

Re your 2 questions,Richie....firstly, £700bn ..people who don't understand the business, look at that and just think it's out of their league, beyond their comprehension, their power and expertise is a given, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Post office chiefs, initially, fell into this category. I w...
