Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
As usual the positive was way over exaggerated (imo) as is the negative. It lies someone in the middle. He is an extremely talented and hard working playing. But he is a maverick, loose cannon and flawed (why he is with us). He holds on too long, takes too many risks but on the flip side he is suit...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
I remember watching Douglas Luiz when we played Villa and he was head and shoulders above Paqueta. Made everything look simple, played first time accurate passes, moved the ball quickly and was just generally effective. Paqueta makes the simple look hard a lot of the time and tries to do things to l...

Let's hope they get properly stuck into that German beer to celebrate winning the leaguePuff Daddy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 6:07 pm Leverkusen winning 3-0. OK, they're not playing a great team, in Werder Bremen, but they're probably no worse than Fulham. How come they're not hung over today?

Hopefully Earthy is ok, but you can tell already Paqueta is longing for players like him in the team. He posted on IG about him on his debut and looked straight for him today when he came on.

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm
The use of Ings has been bizarre. Play him until he shows signs of getting going, then freeze him out completely, then chuck in a 90 minute appearance. Don't expect to see him again until Luton at home.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
If we swapped both teams around and we had their players, they had ours, we would still have approached the game in the same way because it's in the DNA of our manager to low block and counter.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Game was won by the subs. They had options (including Boniface), Moyes didn't. Other than that, I didn't think they looked like breaking WHU down. As for those hysterically pointing to statistics, you can have 1,000 shots but if they're all long range, speculative and easy to save efforts, then the...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread
It's not a 'take'. We had 1 shot all game. We'd completed 25 passes after 28 mins. We defended well, but they were always going to score. Not the worst result in the world.

They deserved that to be fair to them. We got away with a 2-0. We had 1 shot to their 32.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I would like to add that I really dislike the way we starting showboating and getting Ole's going after going a couple of goals up. It's happened for years and think it's a really poor habit. Kudus and Paqueta in particular starting giving it the flicks and tricks. Surprised Moyes hasn't knocked tha...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
At this point of the season with the way we defend, he has one job to do, keep Bowen, Antonio, Kudus and Paqueta on the pitch for as long as possible each game. That front 4 is about as good as we'll ever have in this league, it's better than all but 2 or 3 teams for me. Both wingers work really har...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Jamie O'Hara has always slagged off West Ham fans for criticizing Moyes, but even he was saying it was a terrible substitution and he can see why our fans complain about him.

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
The fact that you think that Kudus incident wasn't a foul and that they were both penalties is a joke. Literally sounds like a troll is so outrageous and you are serious Kudus barged someone the other week, Everton maybe, in the box and it was in the back and that wasn't given. I thought that was p...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips
Never understood the fuss. I watched him closely for England and he tried glory balls all the time, gave it away a lot and used to fly into tackles treading the line of a red card. He looked good in a Bielsa team when he was fitter than ever and just had to play man to man. Pep just not playing him ...

Alex Kral was better than this guy. I think I've seen 1 pass from him in his whole time here that looked good.

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Law is if the ball goes in directly off the arm it's no goal. That's Antonio's goal properly chalked off. If it goes off the players arm and then that player puts it in off a legal body part, then no goal. That's not what happened with Soucek. Ball hit Soucek's arm and bounced off Bowen into the ne...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
And yet we still have lots of people who always know better saying that there is nothing untoward going on in football. It couldn't possibly be open to corruption. No sir. Not like it's happened Spain and Italy recently is it? Not like it happens in every other multi billion industry in the world i...

Great result though after a Thursday game. Villa are better than us and dominated us second half.

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Antonio handball was clear because it went in straight off his hand. Looking at the last one, I think Soucek deliberately leans into it.
