Re: Little things in life that make you smile

A conversation I had with a Man U fan at work yesterday: MUF: "Watch any football over Xmas?" Me:" Yes WHU V Bournemouth plus various other games on TV. MUF: "Oh I don't watch those kind of games." ME: "What do you mean?" MUF: "I only watch games that involve teams in the top 6 of the PL." ME: "Rea...

Re: NFL Pick 'em pool 2017/18

So the Seahawks fan wins by picking the 9ers against his team in a game SF wins by inches on the last play of the last regular season game of the year. Well played. I had a gut feeling they would lose and although it goes against the grain, I had to go with head over heart. It tore me apart ...

Re: Speedway thread

I have a mate who supports the Kent Kings - he lives near Tonbridge. He goes all the home games and he loves the speedway WC. Him and his wife go to as many WC games as they can and also go to Poland a lot. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. I've watched some of it on TV and it doesn't do it for me.

Waltham Forest College/uni? - Walthamstow. Went an xmas dinner there in the restaurant. The food was cracking and really enjoyable - BUT the booze! Seriously. No draft beer, bottled beers only, only bottled bitter is John Smiths (which my card Carrying Camra mates said "I'd rather drink my own piss...

Estrella Galica - wonderful stuff - a slightly more bitter taste yet still a refreshing and (very) easy beer to drink.

Re: Things you've always wanted to know......

Burgers normally lack the succulence and acidity that comes from real meat, rather than the roasted maillard reactions that give the beef identity. Frying or roasting plant proteins in the presence of some form of carbohydrate will still generate some most of these top notes. Hi BB - give Iceland's...

Re: Boxing thread

I'm no fan of AJ but last night he did what he had to do. Jab the guy at a distance, keep away from his power punches and keep out of close quarters. Boring boxing for sure, but technically he did what he needed to do. It seems as his chin is a bit suspect, so he keeps it out of harms way. Not all h...

No a pub but a festival. The Pigs Ear Beer festival 2019 in Hackney. http://www.pigsear.org.uk/pigs%20ear%20festival.htm It still has a few days to go. £5.00 in for the non Camera members like me (£3.00 for members) and then £10 for your glass and £7.00 worth of beer tokens.) I went with my "Beer fa...

Re: Things you've always wanted to know......

Why are vegetarian dishes "meat" flavoured? They are not (mostly). The description is usually to give you some idea what the replacement for meat's texture is like. My vegan "Fish fingers" taste nothing like fish but have the texture of fish and the breadcrumb coating. Some veggie/vegan meat replac...

Re: The Moaning About Christmas Thread.

I loathe xmas. I'm luckily enough to have both parents alive but that said, it's dull. I am designated driver - no probs with that - pick up all the family and pop em round my old dears. It's the same old stories, the same old food, even the same old xmas pressies. No one does anything new, it's all...

Or if I don't want to eat an animal that was caused unnecessary suffering, pain and distress, I can't. I'm afraid all animals are caused pain and distressed when they die. Just look at some of the You tube videos showing the way British animals are slaughtered. From the way they are farmed, through...

They put one up at work - in November. I said that they were suffering from "Premature tree jeckulation." It didn't go down too well. Now a senior manager has decided that it will be Xmas jumper day on the 13th. She can feck right off. I'll be wearing all black - as usual.
