Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I know this isn’t the point of your post, but it’s also worth highlighting the transfer windows during their managerial terms where no funds were made available when we had the chance to push on You’d almost think that the board are trying to slow our managers’ successes when we are in a promising ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Yeah but there is a reason 99% of clubs, owners, pundits, journos, players, fans etc would choose De Zerbi over Moyes. And its not because 99% are all wrong and some West Ham fans are right. Moyes has done wonders but De Zerbi is clearly a better coach and tactician, hence everyone in football laud...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think we have crossed the tipping point. I just hope the club moves quickly in the next appointment and backs him. Sullivan isn't usually too bad in terms of financial support for a new manager so it is just the nagging doubt as to whether someone of the right quality will work with him. But we ne...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

Indeed mate, and while I've been offering an honest opinion you seem to have it in your mind that I'm trying to score internet points/have some sort of agenda/haven't criticised other players enough that you've deemed worse offenders than JWP. So I'll leave it there. Not at all mate, my post was a ...

When your four CBs each have defensive frailties to the extent ours do, you play a low block.

When you dont, you lose.
We’ve conceded in the last 13 PP. Not sure it matters what type of block we deploy when it is made of ice on a hot day!

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

A decent few to be fair. When I say recently, I mean the last 3-4 months, not the last couple of weeks. His set pieces have been under his normal high standard. He's also been subbed a few times lately, where before Moyes would always leave him on for the full ninety, which is probably an indicator...

Might as well pack up and go home then :D

I think it's fair to point and say he's not been great lately.
Who has been consistently good recently? Short list sadly.

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

Genuine question: Is he better than Flynn Downes? 13 goal contributions, near 90% pass completion, 2.3 combined tackles and interceptions per match. Yes he really is. Does Downes have 13 goal contributions in his career? Too many on here waiting for him to have a lean spell so they can yell “SEE, I...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

He's really not the player I hoped he was. Take away the set pieces (which he largely has, recently) and you're left with very little. Not even close to Noble for me. I think we saw the best of his open play early in the season. Interceptions made higher up the pitch and first time passes to releas...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I genuinely thought we played really well up until a point. Antonio, Mavropanos and Paqueta being idiots isn’t on the manager today imo.. It isn’t. So many brain farts this season though especially at the back. I don’t think Moyes has got a handle on it. 13th league match in a row where we’ve conce...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

The squad size has to be in some part his responsibility as well. The degree to which it his responsibility only he and Sullivan know, but at least a degree of the state of the squad has to be his responsibility. Done forget that when we had our last Europa run he admitted that he declined to use t...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

Somehow there are still misconceptions around him, I guess because he is Brazilian. He isn’t and never will be what some on here want him to be. That has bugger all to do with tactics or the manager and everything to do with people forming a view they refuse to deviate from. See just about any other...

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm

I’m resigned to not qualifying for Europe. With the squad depth of those we’re competing with, I think it would be a bit of a miracle if we got it over the line. I don’t expect to and part of me thinks a season off to refresh things wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. However, I don’t really ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Have to partially disagree with you. The defensive aspect of the plan, to neutralise Leverkusen's threat, worked superbly for 80 minutes. But, and it's a big "but", I don't believe it was part of our plan to only register one serious assault on the Bayer goal. The counter attacking elemen...

Probably true to an extent, but I bet he'd have got a better result with their squad.

As you acknowledge I wasn't suggesting going gung ho although if we'd had a go there's equally no guarantee we'd have lost 4-0. Mind you. our heaviest defeats have not come from being too attacking but from sitting back and relying on a crap defence. That's the irony really - he leans on being defe...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I like Paqueta but for a club like us we could comfortably turn £85m into two quality starters. Alavarez and Kudus last summer proves that, it just depends if we can get that lucky again Selling our best players is inevitable. As you say, it is what we do with the money. Interesting you use the wor...
