Re: Too many games

And the game was played at half the intensity. The build of the players and what is expected of them is completely different now so you cannot compare. Modern players are more similar to race horses than a player from the 1970s or 1980s. Given what i've witnessed this season, I'd say cart horses ra...

Re: Too many games

1980/81 we played around 60 games. Pitches were much worse, recovery methods much worse, nutrition much worse, preparation and care of players much worse and players travelled to away games by road rather than on private aircraft. Vast majority of PL sides won't play 75% of that total in any given s...

Re: 40 years ago today (In Dulci Jubilo)

I was only 16 so got the train up from Benfleet, I'd been ringing the ground constantly from about 4pm as i was convinced the game would be cancelled (pre internet days !). As i got closer to Barking I was even more convinced the game would be called off as the snow had started falling more heavily,...

Re: RIP Martin Peters

I was fortunate enough to see Moore, Hurst and Peters play for us many times in my childhood and echo what many have already said about Martin's undoubted class on the pitch. Many years later I would wait with my son by the car park at the back of the STB stand for Martin to arrive so my son could g...

Re: Amazon

Already loving stadium mode, I hate commentators at the best of times. Agree. Perfect solution to shutting that prick Jermaine Jenas up but still getting the general atmosphere at the ground. Good job they didn't stream last Saturday's game, all you'd have heard was us singing our naughty songs

More about Bobby Seagull (for those like me who don't have a clue who he is):

My son was at Cambridge and used to see Seagull cycling round the place in his West Ham shirt.

Quite a character evidently.

Re: Away tickets 2019 / 2020 season

Southampton down to 13 pts, and I'm sure likely to go down even further given the extra allocation. I'm certainly managing to get my points tally up as a consequence, but it says plenty about the reality of the apparent mass of people, so we are frequently told on this thread, who are desperate to ...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

Pardew for us just before he was sacked? Pardew's last three were 0-2, 0-2, 0-4. Curbishley did manage the ignominy of 0-4, 0-4, 0-4 in March 2008 but was only 3 down inside an hour in one of those (Chelsea). Ironic that the first side anyone thought of that might have achieved the feat before was....

Question i've asked on Twitter, maybe someone knows the answer here.

Has any other PL side ever been 0-3 down within an hour in three consecutive league matches ?

Re: 1979-80 season revisited

My first season of going home and away, only missed two games all season. Cambridge at home in the snow on a Friday night (iirc) the now famous half time streaker dancing to Mike Oldfield. WBA away in the cup was special, Parkes unreal and as previous poster mentions WBA were a very decent side at t...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread

With regard to our successful pass rate, I reckon a high percentage are between Diop and Ogbonna across our back line. Drives me mad it happens so often. Same. We seem incapable of going from right to left or left to right without making at least 3 passes along our back line. By the time we have mo...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

And can we at least show the decision being made, or afterwards why it has been made, to the people that have paid good money to be in the stadium to watch the game. Why wasn't yesterday's overruling of the offside shown on the screens ?

Re: Four years ago today

I'd been to Anfield numerous times prior to this game and spent most of the journey up there telling my son (who was visiting for the first time) how we always got beat (usually comfortably) and had only won there once in my lifetime (I was five months old). At two nil with not long to go he looked ...

Re: Away tickets 2019 / 2020 season

I'm an AST and started the season on 25 points Phil. Just logged into my account to find I've now got 26 points (which includes one each for Brighton and Watford) so as per your comment Phil it looks like 24 was the maximum one could start the season with. They've docked me a point ten days ago, re...

Re: Away tickets 2019 / 2020 season

Starting the season the max points and AST could have is 24 which includes both AFC Wimbledon cup games. I'm an AST and started the season on 25 points Phil. I actually called the TO about this when i saw the allocation bands as one said 25+. As I've not missed a match for many years I wondered how...
