Re: January

Haller, Ajeti and Antonio are fine to cover up front (not that I think our owners will be able to help themselves if a loan deal comes available).

We are a lot shorter elsewhere imo.

Re: January

trouble is TTS both Reid and Wilshere are on long term contracts - Reid has I think at least 2 years and Wilshere is halfway through a 3 year deal. getting them off the books ? I have no idea many were saying, even those who think that Fornals will come good (but maybe not necessarily here ?) were ...

Re: Are we missing a leader?

We need a better centre-half than Ogbonna and we need a more all-round central midfielder than Lanzini. Ideally, either or both would be leaders.

Genuinely can't believe Rice is being spoken about like this. He's absolutely top class and we'd be in a relegation battle without him.
He's been head and shoulders our best player this year. He needs some help in there.

Re: January

We basically need to replace Reid and Wilshere. A first-choice centre-back on the same wages as Reid and a more defensively-minded centre midfielder on the same wages as Wilshere would make us an entirely different proposition. I'm not sure who is available at present, but if we were to get anyone, ...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Noble should be playing where he is now against better opposition away from home. What should also be happening is that there is a player behind him alongside Rice allowing us the opportunity to win the ball back and fight. we were overrun in midfield on Saturday and we simply don't have the players...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

We have some classy players, but you have to earn the right to play. Our central midfield options are a very, very promising 19 year old, a 31 year-old who has never been quick a winger a playmaker who is always injured and a liability. We spent more than £30m in the summer on players who will never...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

That’s what Fornals is supposed to be, eventually. (Imo) He wasn’t brought in to play as a winger. Well I’ve seen nothing from him (either before he arrived or since) to suggest he’s capable of doing that. He, Wilshere and Lanzini are all fighting for a position that simply doesn’t work in our team.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

we didn’t need Fornals, we needed a centre midfielder to help Noble and Rice. It was obvious to virtually everyone on this site or who watched us last year. Poor management, but as we all suspected, there is never any money to spend in th second year of a manger’s reign and will ever be thus. Still ...

Re: Bulgaria vs England

My issue with it isn’t to do with people calling out the Bulgarian fans. They should be ashamed of themselves. The issue is the ‘ivory towers’ angle of it. The papers are happy to stir us up for their own gains and write awful nonsense about immigration and stereotypical **** about black footballers...

Re: Bulgaria vs England

This morning, I’ve been reminded if the old Lord Macauley line - “We know no spectacle so ridiculous as the British public in one of its periodical fits of morality.” The Mail has got more front than Clacton and some of the **** that Raheem Sterling has got from the mainstream press here, he must be...

He dives, he screams, he sulks, he complains whenever he's tackled.

And yet, because he has an inspiring rags to riches story, I'm meant to respect him?
I don’t think so. Surely we’re all free to respect who we want based on whatever we think is worthy of respect.

Re: Wilfried Zaha

I don't think that any of the comments on this thread are in any way racially motivated.

I think a fair amount of the press he gets probably is though.

Whether that press has an impact on people's opinions of him is a debate that would probably descend very quickly.

Re: Dubbin (non WHU)

I remember using this stuff, on another note do you still have to knock in a cricket bat yourself, surely by now tech has somehow replicated sitting there for hours hitting the bat with the ball. Yes. Expensive ones usually come with a mallet these days (or you can buy it separately) but a cricket ...

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

I've had some truly terrible times in my life, most of them, business related, like being well and truly ripped off and stitched up by former business partners or associates, whilst they have sailed off into the sunset and lived the life of Old Riley. That would be enough to send most people off in...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread

People who think we will come top six are a bit cloud cuckoo land IMHO We are not a bad side. We are actually quite good but so are lots of other teams. We are not one of the best six sides Our only wins are are against two teams who might get relgeated and a Man U second string. And there first st...

Re: Update on where you think we'll finish

Imagine if we did come 4th. Given how much Chelsea will probably spend next summer and that Man Utd will probably get a manager who isn't a 14 year-old, this year could be our best chance for a while. At this stage I would say that we're fighting for it with Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City and ...

Re: Update on where you think we'll finish

We probably have the 4th or 5th best manager in the league and a top 8 first-team, so there's every chance that we can finish above Chelsea and Man Utd this year, but I do worry about our squad and how reliant we are on Noble and Rice in the centre of midfield. If we could replace Reid, Wilshere and...

Re: MotD

Sadly, we are becoming a little like Spain, Scotland and Germany with our twop teams being head-and-shoulders above the rest and MOTD is sadly reflecting that. It's always been the case but seems to be much worse this year. Why Liverpool's dull 1-0 win against Sheff Utd was on 2nd or whatever is is ...
