Re: Midweek Games April 9-11
You know things are bad when it’s actually refreshing to watch Champions League refereeing.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
“I am euphoric at every game and every training session because I feel that I am in the right place, in the right league,”
Genuinely, this sounds like a quote that someone would say 3 weeks before confirming that they are leaving the club.

Re: Sacked and barred from working with children
I work in a school - we have some who wish to identify as he/she/they etc. Some of us get it wrong sometimes and they're usually pretty chilled about it.
I find that the trick is to try not be a massive twat about it.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
One of Moyes defensive strategies is to allow shots from distance. This is why he favours Goalkeepers who are shot-stoppers and why often our goalkeepers have made more saves than their contemporaries even when we are the better side. Where this falls down is when our defence collectively drops deep...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Ben Johnson would be a good signing right about now. Youngish. Home-grown. Can cover both full-back positions and centre-back at a push. Available for free.
Genuinely though, if we can keep him it would solve us a couple of squad-filler-type head-aches.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
The Smith Rowe rumours don’t seem to be going away. He’s one that could potentially play in a similar role to Paqueta. With a bit of luck we could end up with £20m for Downes and if we could bring Potts back into the fold, that might solve a problem in midfield. I think a lot will depend on centre-b...

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United - match thread
I’m perhaps not up on the exact offside rules, but honestly, you shouldn’t be able to stand 2 yards in front of the keeper in an offside position and not get flagged. That looked offside to me and I’m surprised it’s getting such a reaction. As for the rest, I thought Emerson was unlucky with the pen...

No leadership, no concentration, and currently a losing mentality.
We’re going backwards.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
I think a top-end centre-back would be transformational. We're basically looking for circa 2016 Winston Reid. Harwood-Bellis could be an option - he's probably a season away from where we would need him to be, but I think we could probably get him now for £25m, as opposed to next season when he is a...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Gibbs-White cost them £42m and has had two very productive seasons. He'll cost a lot of money unless they get relegated. I just don't think he's worth the £70m they'd likely ask for. If we were priced out, I'd rather we went for Madueke at Chelsea than Sterling to be honest. I think he looks great.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Trouble is Gibbs-White is going to cost 60m+. Forest fans absolutely rave about him and pundits seem to be getting on his bandwagon now. I can see him ending up at Liverpool Yep, it may not be easy, but I think we have to be aspirational. And this is why we bought Steidten in isn't it....to try and...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
I feel like the Paqueta to Man City rumours are getting a little bit louder. I'd be gutted to see him go, but if we could get £85m for him and then replace him with Gibbs-White and one of Toney or Solanke for a combined £100m, it wouldn't be terrible business. ------Alvarez----Soucek Bowen-----Kudus...

Re: The kids are all right
What I would say about our youngsters is that none of them are running out of time. From what I've seen, the best young players at the club are Freddie Potts, Ollie Scarles, George Earthy, Callum Marshall and Divin Mubama. Potts and Mubama turn 21 next season, and the others are still all yet to tur...

Re: Stopping the cheating
The thing is, even in cricket where everything absolutely is binary due to the nature of the game, they still have "umpires call" as a margin for error on LBWs, as they recognise that Hawk-Eye cannot possibly be deemed 100% accurate on predicting the flight of a cricket ball. Football nee...

Re: Stopping the cheating
VAR doesn't work. Simply because football is not binary. It's not like cricket, you have to take other things into account. The game should be managed by an on-field referee and his decisions should be final. VAR should only be used for offsides and goal-line technology. Nothing else. A panel of 2 f...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
I think concentration is an issue for our fellas. Look at the timings of the goals against those many would regard as teams we should beat. Look at the games with the big errors. We need to pay for consistency. Yep, and I would add that concentration could be a by-product of leadership. I can imagi...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I think Moyes loses faith in players, not quickly but once its gone it seems to be gone for good. Kehrer, Benny and even Scamacca had plenty of minutes last season (and this in Bennys case) but their performances never got to the consistency levels Moyes seems to put great store in. Having watched ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
To be honest, me mentioning Moyes squad management is nothing to do with me wanting him gone. I want him to stay - but I think for us to be even more successful and to continue to improve, there needs to be a better connection between recruitment and coaching. Or Moyes needs to figure out how to kee...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I honestly think it will purely be about whether he wants to be here or not. If he does, I don't see us letting him go. But I can see him calling it a day and heading for pastures new. I'm not sure there's much more he can achieve here. If, and it's a big IF, he could bring in someone like Maguire t...
