Re: Tyre damage

 I just bought a pair of part worn tyres for the front of my car, £35 each and about 5mm of tread. They seem ok, what sort of problems to they find? Can't find the article I read a few weeks ago, but did find this one from last year - the figures are not as high as the previous one I read, b...

Re: Tyre damage

Technically - it's legal if there's no cord showing. The sidewall starts from the band below the damage, and your damage is in the tread section - but, as others have said, it's not worth it, just change it. With new, not part worn. There's a recent article that can be found via your favourite searc...

Re: KUMB Amateur Photography Thread 2019

Oh, and always save a raw copy! That's your 'digital negative'. Save in jpg AND raw which your camera does, and always edit your raw file. It's non-destructive - you can never save over it, and if you go wrong you can start again - unlike jpg which you can overwrite and then accidentally wipe the or...

Re: KUMB Amateur Photography Thread 2019

You cannot convert them to JPEG as such. The cr2 file is exactly what your sensor sees to the minutest detail. What you can do now is process them in camera raw which is part of photoshop, then you export the processed image in to jpeg. The images probably look a bit dull, a bit wishy-washy in cr2 -...

Re: Little things in life that make you smile

Getting moaned at by the IT Director in my work place after my internet bill on my phone whilst in Hong Kong last week was quite high. What he doesn't know (or maybe he does) is that I was on YouTube exclusively watching TJ Hooker clips and smashing myself silly over Heather Locklear. And I'm not s...

Re: Little things in life that make you smile

A chap on twitter getting absolutely rinsed by saying he won't be able to afford to get photo ID to vote if it's brought in. At the bottom of the tweet it says 'Twitter for iPhone' - followed by someone else screen-shotting another Tweet of his saying he's going to sit down and chill with a joint. P...

Oh man. Now you're talking. With mashed spuds and peas. Well, Birdseye Petis Pois. No other little green ball vegetable will do.

Re: Black pudding

Not a proper fry up for me without liver and black or white pudding Liver. Hmmm, the thought of it makes me drool. The Mrs doesn't like it, and I've not had it for yonks. Got to be lambs liver though, not a fan of pigs liver. Pigs liver is a bit too powdery for my delicate tastes, but lambs liver i...

Re: Mushrooms

In all seriousness for one minute - they're still buds and have not flowered yet - and literally could be anything under the skin. General rule of thumb is if it has dark gills, it's edible, if it has white gills, steer clear - but that's just a general rule, and like everything, there are exception...

I'd swerve them personally....

Can't take chances with that shizzle unless you're 100% certain they're safe.

⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Saturday, 19th October, Goodison park, Liverpool.

KO: 1230, on the telly.

Could go either way this one - I'd take a draw, but obviously a win would be nice.

COYI!

On that score - proper nerd question:

What’s people’s favourite station?
I love the look of St Pancras, inside and out. A thing of beauty.

Re: Going Underground! (the train & public transport thread)

Longest non-stop passenger service is the Aberdeen-->Penzance CrossCountry service. Think it's daily, 13h20 in duration. The duration can't be right, as it takes less time to drive it than that? I had to cheat and look - that service IS the longest in the UK, and it does take 13hr 20 - but with 33 ...

Re: Going Underground! (the train & public transport thread)

Right you geeky lot, without googling, what train station has longest platform, in the UK? Tricky, as some say Gloucester, some say Colchester - but Colchester doesn't have a continuous face, where as Gloucester does - so I'm going with that please Ted. What is the longest train station name in Bri...

Re: Going Underground! (the train & public transport thread)

The problem I find DL is that the government should be putting all the money into building the commuter infrastructure not express lines. They have done some good stuff around London (crossrail, thameslink, etc) but more needs to be done, especially in the provincial cities. Bristol has not seen an...
