Re: Which is hardest

To simplify it massively: In bowling, you need to learn to do the same thing 12 times to get 300. In darts you need to repeat the same throw seven times then throw a different treble and a double. For a 147, every shot is slightly different and each shot relies on the previous one. From a practice m...

Re: The Crazy Life of Ian Bishop

Terrific player for us, copped a lot of (unfair) stick off the crowd towards the end of his time with us- would give my right arm for a player of his ability and class to be in the squad now. One of his problems at the time was the fact that he wasn't Hugo Porfirio, who he was sometimes keeping out...

Re: Snodaldinho

Last season I wrongly attributed a lot of his popularity to running around a lot and clapping the fans before taking corners, but he's become our most reliable player. Not just reliable in terms of doing the sensible thing with the ball, but also reliably coming up with goals, assists and goal scori...

Re: Grady Diangana

Great to see him starting for West Brom and doing so well. If Antonio was out for the season I’d be recalling him in a heartbeat in Jan. As it is (barring further major injuries) he’d likely to be coming back to play a few minutes here and there off the bench, rather than being our primary impact su...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread

Who knows, maybe he would have been another Zaza? Hopefully we can now sign someone who wants to play for us.

Failing that, Hugill can start the season up front in the Steve Jones role and we've got Roberto on the bench to play in the Les Sealey position, if we need a bit of reinforcement up top.

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs

No one at the club can be surprised by this. If he didn’t have this sort of attitude, or if he could produce the sort of performances he’s clearly capable of week in week out over a season, we couldn’t have dreamed of signing him in the first place. Overall a good signing with a few really high poin...

Is that our option or his option, or do both parties need to agree? I don't mind admitting I don't understand how contracts work.

Re: Next season

Lanzini's contract expiry date is a worry. Need to get that sorted ASAP to avoid him winding his contract down and mainly concentrating on not getting injured next season.

Re: New Tottenham stadium (non-WHU)

I think most fans will put up with a crumbling ground with character and decades of history, or a modern stadium built with football supporters in mind. We currently have a modern-ish stadium built with athletics in mind and a handful of wins against top six sides in terms of (positive) history so f...

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs

The way I see it, if you’re looking for honour, integrity and loyalty from modern day footballers, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Arnautovic is a massive ego, probably doesn’t care for the club any more than the average 30 year old Austrian-Serb semi-journeyman footballer would, and, much like mo...

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs

I always think it’s best to leave the booing of our players to opposition fans. I can’t remember a player who ever played better as a result of his own fans abusing him.

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs

If the manager subbed Arnautovic based on Nasri’s advice, someone needs to let Nasri know that Arnie spends the majority of the time he isn’t on the ball walking like a man with a season ending injury.

Good job Kouyate isn’t still with us. Nasri would have spent half his life signalling to the bench!

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend

I think this season will see Noble become more of a squad player. The fact that he no longer appears to be penalty taker and is now regularly subbed show that he’s no longer considered undroppable or the first name on the team sheet. I imagine he would benefit from being rested for a few games or be...

Re: Felipe Anderson

He had a rubbish game yesterday, but no need to write him off as rubbish. He spent a disappointing amount of time in the second half near the touchline not really offering an option to anyone, his end product wasn’t really there, and you would have expected more dangerous link up and overlapping wit...

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2018- 17 days remaining

Fernandes strikes me as the odd one out in the squad list at the moment. At 22, and with 2 seasons behind him, this season should be the time for him to establish himself in the first team, but he currently looks miles away from a starting position and more like a versatile sub for emergencies. I’m ...

Re: the New kits thread

Agree with those saying the shorts should have been blue. Hopefully we’re not going to end up in a situation where we’re wearing the Home shirt with the away shorts. That would look hideous. And as un-traditional as it was, I thought the Home shirt/shorts looked great with the 3rd socks against Pres...

3rd kit actually looks decent when not in a grainy, unofficial pic:

Re: Andy Carroll

At least the manager can get used to preparing a match day squad without him in it. Carroll’s still a massive weapon :) when fit, but should be treated as nothing more than a bonus player to bring off the bench, until his contract winds down. Chelsea must be thanking their lucky stars.

I think I might.

Sunderland are a cautionary tale of what happens when you take an older player Man U don’t want anymore.
