Re: Mulletts

Had an involuntary mullet back in the late 80s: hair was getting a bit long and I went to the "Barber" in my Dad's village. 'Barber' in inverted commas as he was a trawlerman who had an antique barber's chair (but no mirror!) in his spare room and would cut your hair for a pint of lager i...

Re: Any Northern Soul fans out there?

Really not sure how I feel about watching it played live. I remember Snake Davis and the Suspicions from the ‘80s and was always a little bit ‘meh’. Also saw a few of the Motown acts play live and was always left a little underwhelmed. I’m a bit of a traditionalist and like my original vinyl. (Nb. ...

Re: Books you are reading

I’m reading Daniel Rachel’s ‘Too Much Too Young’ - a biography/account/story of the 2Tone movement. Excellently written and whilst I’ve known a fair bit from other writing (Pauline Black, Neville Staple, Horace Panter), this fills in a lot of detail from many of the other bands who were also part o...

And yes there's nothing beats coming out into the bright early morning sunshine on a Summers' Sunday morning onto a deserted Oxford St all sweaty and pilled off your face after ...
