Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium
I'll probably get slated for suggesting this but what about Lewis Dunk for left back? He looks good for Newcastle from what I've seen, if I was on opposing team would hate to play against that behemoth. Dunk plays for Brighton Do you mean Dan Burn perhaps? - If so, isn't he the weak lonk in Newcast...

Booked for simulation after nearly having his head taken off by a wild boot swing. Hmm.bitter-iron-ny wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 9:17 pm Didn't play for Mexico vs. Panama. Was caught on camera having a snit and kicking the bench.
Came on as a sub vs. the US and this was his most memorable moment:

I reckon he would only ask for a fraction of Ings' wages too.

(This seems the best place for it, though the debate about Toney v Watkins was in the Bowen thread.)

1) Ian Wright 2) Never 3) Noel Cantwell (it's indirectly topical as his ghostwriter has just passed away). 4) Which British club represented the Los Angeles franchise of the newly formed United Soccer Association in the USA ? Given every other answer seems to be West Ham related, errr... West Ham Un...

Re: The new kits thread
Great non story. The Peter Saville England shirt 14 years ago had also the St George's cross in several colours. No outrage followed, when I remember correctly. Different political climate, I suppose. I'm sure I remember quite a bit of criticism about that kit. Problem is, when you criticise someth...

I think this shows Kudus a bit more clearly - still can't detirmine an infringement though:

It's a pity ref's can't just ask players, "Did it hit your hand?"
Eh, Callum Wilson?

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
It would have to be visually past his hand from that angle. It hits his wrist and then changes direction. Again, the fact we are even going over this leads me to ask if it is clear and obvious... which I don't think any of the three were. Soucek's was the most blatent but with the post covering his...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Yes i 100% agree with this. The referee has blown as he believes Kudus handles the ball. Which from his view he has no way of knowing - so should have let play continue and let VAR deal with it (as they do 99% of the time now). I dunno, the ref seems to just open both his hands, and says more sylla...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Antonio is standing there with the deliberate ploy to obstruct/hinder/ disrupt/ distract the keeper (by fair means or foul), therefore a keeper has the right to protect his terrority The keeper can't really go anywhere else as he needs to stand there to do his job as a goalkeeper, but Antonio can b...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
:eyes: The Kudus disallowed one was the worst of the lot, yet it's not had any air time at all. Even now I still don't know why it was ruled out. Jarrett Gillet might just be the worst referee we've ever had in the PL, which really is saying something. Remember he's the same ref that ruled out Corne...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Even more complicated is I think it was a deliberate move to try and use his shoulder, which would have been fine. But he wasn't near enough and the action swung his arm as a result and a split second later that's what made contact. What has to be deliberate, no idea? He's moving his shoulder (and ...

Re: VAR 2023/24
Still haven't seen a shot of contact between ball and arm. It took me a long time to see it (not any actual contact but a suspected change in direction of the ball that coincides with where his arm is likely to have been at that moment), although maybe it was confirmation bias. For all I can tell f...

Re: Dear Citizens of the Peoples Republic of KUMB
I had to turn around to a guy screaming “he’s so sh*t” about Paqueta to ask what was wrong with him today. Something that has always bemused and frustrated me - I remember about 25 years ago having to endure a small group shouting non-stop abuse about Joe Cole. And I'm sure we all remember the unwa...
