Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Honestly thought it was a strong window. Filled key positions, re-set FFP, started the transition to younger players. Good first window for the new technical director. Maybe a move in Jan, then another one like this next summer and I will start to have confidence in a real plan

It's very thin...
Axel Tuanzebe?
Reggie Cannon?
Santi Mina?

That's about it.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

'Not sure I get the fuss about not getting a "true striker"... it's been 4 seasons under Moyes, what true striker had any success under him?

We have plenty of hybrid AM/CF in the squad and that's really what Moyes has consistently had success with.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

I think this has turned out to be a strong window, nice mix of talent coming in at a good average age, filled most gaps short and long term except FB

Re: Can Brighton ' Do a Leicester ' ?

No, they are a really well run club with clear plans and structure that most clubs would do well to emulate, but.... there are too many money clubs that are also well run, and have far larger margins for error, and can add expensive fully developed superstars that Brighton never could.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

With regards to selling Fornals or Kehrer it seems to be overlooked that last year and this year we have shed lots of players from a threadbare squad to begin with. We need new players to replace the gaps created by the departures and cannot afford to sell Fornals (a great team member) and Kehrer (...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

I hope we hold Fornals for this year, but also objectively, if I were his agent I'd be pushing for a move. He's a good player who is not a perfect fit for any role with West Ham. He's 27, so if he signs a 3-4 year deal elsewhere, he'd be set up to get one last good contract in his early 30s. Ideally...

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

Betting companies make enormous profits because they don't need you to win or lose, they just need the juice. The whole point for them is that they want people to win bets, they just pay them out of somebody else's losses, it's all a balancing game. Set the odds correctly so that you get 10% off ev...

Re: The new kits thread

3rd kit is... fine? The pattern at the bottom is pretty inoffensive, it's basically a blue shirt with light blue badge. Pretty generic outside the girders pattern. None of our kits this year are terrible, none are great (unsponsored away maybe, but doesn't count). Funny thing.... I like all 3 of the...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Kudus is not a striker. He's a midfielder or attacking midfielder. M ost people seem to suggest it stupid to ever play him up front . If we don't buy a striker its just more fire for the Sullivan and Moyes out for me. Utter idiocy. To suggest you can't find better than Antonio and Ings is pure inep...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Something being forgotten about is Maxwell Cornet We gotta decide what we want to do with this guy this window I think while he still has a bit of value left in him. Id be inclined to hijack Gnoto and give Everton Cornet myself. Id also be inclined to include Cornet in any deal for Brennan Johnson ...

Re: Jesse Lingard

On a one year deal it’s good business for both parties. It looks like we’ll have another 50 game season so there are plenty of opportunities for him. If he does well and gets his name back out there he’s in a better position to negotiate a more lucrative move to Saudi next summer. Sign him up Dave ...

Solanke, Yes please Lingard, no thanks Signing Lingard would almost certainly mean the plan is to stick with counter-attacking low possession football, so not for me Clive If we were going to play a different style we'd have brought in a new manager, Might be a few minor tweaks, but Moyes is who he...

Are they? Not even a little to my eye, I see 22 once Coventry goes, 21 if Downes goes as well we are unlikely to add 3-4 more. The premium is really on the non-HG slots.

:eh: :eh: :eh: If he costs nothing but money (and not much of that likely) and a squad place that was otherwise going to some other non-PL quality player, then yes, he's perfectly fine, because he might not be done, sometimes players have more left in a new situation in a new role (late sub)... why...

Re: Jesse Lingard

I'm personally for it, as long as the club makes him earn his money. Benny isn't good enough or consistent enough to get us into the top 8. Lingard was. Lingard? He's not consistent at all... he had a torrid 10 game streak with us on loan (which involved some serious finishing luck), it was amazing...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Lingard is a perfectly fine addition if it's short term and small money, he's probably mostly done as a player, but if he costs nothing... sure, another body in the mix and he's homegrown so not likely to displace anyone better. Are the fears that Moyes will play him even if he's terribe well-founde...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

But if a team is specifically set up for rapid, blitzkrieg counter-attacking, almost by definition they're going to have less of the ball. You break fast, and if you score, you score fast. If the play breaks down, it tends to break down fast, and the ball is turned over. They can be winning the gam...

Probably not, maybe a CAM who is young, he could get minutes now and slide into a bigger role next year when Paq will likely be off and Soucek and Fornals in doubt.
