Re: Coronavirus
you can't lock people indefinitely, you will end up causing more problems than you are solving. lockdown works as a way of initially slowing down the spread of the disease to avoid the medical system being overrun, while you are adapting to the situation , which means more hospital beds, more ICUs, ...

Re: Coronavirus
The question as others have rightly said is for how long, how far reaching, and if European trade etc is genuinely unscrupulous enough to forget about all of this, as soon as their sweatshops and tech workhouses are in full operation again. so, basically, will businesses be less greedy? yea' sure!

Re: Coronavirus
looking at this, it is either a big coincidence, or comparing the number of 'cases' isn't really a waste of time, even with all the differences in testing.Denbighammer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:46 pm The 'cases' numbers are a waste of time for comparative purposes.

Re: Coronavirus
assuming that the official cases (roughly 8000) have been confirmed by tests, the numbers don't add up, that would be about 40% positives.ageing hammer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 10:53 pm As of midnight last night, 17,992 tests have been carried out in laboratories across the country.
93% of tests conducted have returned negative.

Re: Coronavirus
Like I said I'm no expert and the people that are are contradicting each other due to not enough testing. so why aren't more tests being carried out? there were stories on here of people with symptoms being sent home. south korea is lauded for having one of the best reactions to the crisis. their p...

Re: Coronavirus
It's dreadful, it really is. Having to have the kids at home for half term was enough. I'm really unsure that I got myself enough alcohol in for this outcome. Wonder if I can get away with self isolating in the bedroom. it's counter intuitive, but just give a small percentage of the alcohol to the ...

Re: Coronavirus
Quite a few countries are slowly taking the same route as us... i haven't followed the UK situation all that much, but it seems like it's the other way round: like, "we're not closing schools, shops, forbidding mass gatherings... but maybe that'll happen next week". again, that may be jus...

On another note, the take away for me in regards of the run on toilet paper: make note to install a bidet once we have recovered financially. most houses in portugal have one, and you still can't find a bog roll on the shelves  (not entirely true, the only supermarkets with empty shelves are t...

Re: Coronavirus
As for the glamour to stop "mass gatherings", people need to show some sense. No one is forcing anyone to attend a "mass gathering" at gun point. Anyone who is worried about going, dont go. you don't go, the "mass gathering" happens, virus spreads faster and reaches hi...
