Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Yet the most recent managerial links have his grubby hands all over them... It does appear that way, i’m just going to wait and see who’s appointed. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was no Moyes and no Steidten by the summer and the shyster is back to his worst. I’ll just delude myself into thinkin...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

We should be bringing those folks in regardless. Obviously we can’t solely rely on data analytics and imo in-person familiarity and some level of trust is hugely important, but we do need to modernize our scouting setup so we have folks helping us identify who to watch over long periods of time ins...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I don’t see why we can’t sort out what’s happening with the manager this week. Either: 1. Announce a new contract. 2. Announce his departure. And any players choosing to sack it off won’t be making a good impression on the new man. Utterly pointless waiting another 5 games. Just get on with it. I’d...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Miranda (and Davis to a lesser extent) is a tidy player but lacking the pace and athleticism I think we should be targeting at full back and centre mid. I’d like to be playing further up the pitch and I think that’s what will give the coach the confidence to do so

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

The game and set up suited him very well today and he did great. Saw some real anger in his face for the first time too which showed how up for it we were

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

They gave it their all and that’s all you ask for, i’m glad they we went out fighting at least. It felt like one last hurrah for the likes of Cresswell, Ogbonna, possibly Moyes and maybe even Antonio. I’d love us to go into every game as if we were 2-0 down. I think we were unlucky to have the Spani...

Thought that was the old Chelsea full back Paulo Ferreira on Lille’s bench. Turns out it is

Villa get one back and it’s all square again

He is. I have to say, i’d absolutely love him if he was on my team though

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Sullivan was forced to pay compo for Bruce who resigned from Palace after a few months to join Birmingham. Clearly some dodgy back room deal that he had put together. Just a reminder of how he treats these things. It’s why I was never jealous of Villa getting Emery, there was no chance of him paying...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Lopetegui is one of those that needs a perfect set of conditions to work with so it could be a disaster the way we’re run. He did a good job at Porto and for a season or two at Sevilla before it went very stale very quickly Isn’t he linked up with football parasite Jorge Mendes though? Wouldn’t want...

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped

I read that the EFL trophy(?) let the teams decide between them if they want the reply option before hand which would seem fairer on the smaller clubs in the FA Cup. I do think there are far too many games but i’d rather they scrapped the League Cup like France did. It would add to the prestige of t...

Re: Declan Rice

Martinelli hasn't done a great deal for them all season. Saka I find to be a bit of a flat track bully, and a bit one dimensional at times. So much of his game is dependent on a quick burst of pace as he cuts inside and shoots on his left from the corner of the area. I read a good piece on how much...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I had forgotten about Lopetegui. He was one of the names when there was talk last season of Moyes leaving. He’s had such a mixed career it’s hard to judge.

It ticks enough of Sully’s boxes though, having PL experience. Him appointing someone like Slot for example seems very unlikely unfortunately

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I would prefer we keep Moyes (over any manager barring the truly elite) but if Moyes has been a dinosaur for the last 4 years, someone 3 years younger isnt going to have much luck here. I assumed people calling him a dinosaur were referring to his perceived old fashioned tactics rather than his act...

Re: Declan Rice

This week Rice is overrated, Saka's not nailed on to start on the right for England, Cole Palmer is the future of the English game and Haaland is a flat track bully. Give it a couple of weeks and it'll be someone else under the spotlight for better or worse. I think it's fair to say that Arsenal ha...

Re: Declan Rice

Arsenal fans starting to question his ability on the ball and what he offers in the final third. Lots of claims that he went missing against Bayern when it counted. I always felt he was better doing the defensive midfield job. For sure, that’s what he can be great at. I get the temptation to have h...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think they are two different points. Is Moyes doing well against the level of spend? Yes. Would he do better and would the team play better if we spent more? I’m not convinced. When he has had more depth, he has barely used it. Would a few more players getting 20 minutes here and there make much ...

Re: Midweek games

Good that Arteta’s attempted ‘oh our two best attacking players are injured and might not be able to start’ mind games counted for absolutely nothing. I sincerely hope that they implode now but I still think they have a great chance of winning the title

Re: Midweek games

They said Lunin had saved 8 out of the 21 pens he’d faced before that, you can tell why after that I always said before they won it last year that City lack that truly elite player that will take a game by the scruff of the neck, it costs them in big 50/50 CL games. It’s mad that they’ve spent that ...
