Re: David Moyes - 18th Permanent Manager of WHUFC

I actually think it's the attempt to play the modern pressing game that did for us today.

You can't play it with players with the lack of pace and stamina we have. Oh and in Haller's case, the lack of ******* balls.

Re: David Moyes - 18th Permanent Manager of WHUFC

I think we're edging towards some kind of realisation of what these players are. Leicester are 3rd - and comfortably, and deservedly so. They have a youthful, pacey, energetic team that moves the ball and goes into challenges with purpose...like all the modern, successful teams do. We have a bunch ...

Re: Leicester City v West Ham United: Match Thread

So you would risk one of our key players in a game where we had very little chance of getting anything anyway. If Antonio f***ed his hamstring and was out for the rest of the season I am sure you would have applauded the manager for his derring do! Quite. Almost like DM can do no right with some pe...

Re: David Moyes - 18th Permanent Manager of WHUFC

i love nearly all your posts Bubbles, but how on earth you can say he is on the 'right track' is purely baffling That was about as bad a performance as we have put together since we got promoted It was absolutely horrific We haven't tightened up at the back, and we are much worse going forwards! No...

Boring.
So is the assertion that an injury-prone 30-year-old (minus two months) whom we have rushed back on multiple occasions should have started, because you've either got the 20-20 hindsight specs on, or you genuinely think it's a good idea.

Antonio was not fit.

That said, I hope he abandons this 3-5-2 stuff. We urgently need at least two signings to bolster the midfield.
How predictable that someone would say Antonio should start, though? No doubt the same people would be up in arms when he pulled up having been rushed back.

Re: David Moyes - 18th Permanent Manager of WHUFC

What struck me today was that we are utterly devoid of pace, and Haller doesn't put himself about like he should for a player of his size. That's a squad issue. Not sure how we could have set up differently. Not sure what tactics others would have used? Oh, and the people that suggest Antonio should...

Re: Sheffield United v West Ham United: Match Thread

With the three at the back hopefully a fixture, and Rice playing deep,Antonio in some kind of right wing back position should be a consideration. Tried and failed in the past, but from what we know now of Antonio's strengths and weaknesses would be a good fit imo. Massively agree. And it didn't fail...

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread

Anyone worried about our slightly shaky first half should remember that that was the first 45 minutes we've played a back five in two years - so we were always going to need some time to adjust. Thought the CBs did an excellent job at dropping into spaces left by the wing backs. You can only beat wh...

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend

Those who claim not to understand what Noble brings to the team should spend a game or two specifically watching just him. He's not an all-action box-to-box midfielder, because he hasn't got the stamina. We know that, and that's ok. He does an enormous amount of glamorous grunt work. He retains and ...

Sunday 5th Jan 2020, KO: 18:16 We absolutely have to win this game, because I will never, ever, hear the end of it from my work-mates. Strongest team possible please! Do we know the reason behind the odd kick-off time? Re the team, he will ring the changes but we have a good squad and should be com...

So much of his work in defence can be unnoticed, but he was very effective yesterday.
Only by people who believe commentators' lazy cliches.

He's one of the hardest-working on the pitch, sometimes to his detriment - similar to Rooney in that respect.
