Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Yeah, the two big ones – Haller and Anderson – ultimately have to be judged on a value for money basis. But decoupled from the financial aspect they're both decent players. Haller is flailing around mightily right now but having a striker sitting on 6 goals in January makes him probably the most de...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Can't blame Anderson's one on the club. It was that little twerp in Sheffield Utd's midfield. Sure was, and the second longer injury to one of our players this season caused by an opposing midfielder simply hacking down one of our players when a break was on. Lanzini's shoulder injury came from exa...

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread

Fabianski has to play if fit Of all the back up players we have a mistake is most likely to come from the two reserve keepers and an fA Cup tie can be decided by one mistake David Martin did not have a good experience in his last FA Cup match! That FA Cup error did Martin's reputation a lot of dama...

Just logged on to say that Jon Moss was an absolute dick in the first half!
He didn't give a single foul against Chelsea in 90 minutes, unbelievable.

Re: Other goalies with shattered confidence?

I'd be amazed if David Martin's confidence isn't in tatters from not being picked week after week despite Roberto's persistent incompetence.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Match Thread (10/8)

Will be very interesting to see who is left out of the match-day squad. Based on the last couple of games, the front six will almost certainly be Rice, Wilshere, Fornals, Lanzini, Anderson, Haller. Centre backs Balbuena and Diop. Full backs could go any way, though I suspect it will be Fredericks an...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread

There are only four players who have scored ten or more Premier League goals in 2019. Sadio Mane, Sergio Aguero, Jamie Hardy, and Ayoze Perez. Pérez had never scored 10 league goals in any of his previous Premier League seasons and IMO he won’t do it again. Leicester have signed him off an end of s...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread

Talk today (Guardian rumours) of Villa wanting 50 million for John McGinn if Manchester United want him. Now I actually rate McGinn, but he's not anything that special, and if players of his calibre are going to be marketed for that sort of money, the football world really has gone crazy.

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread

the question is, "what kind of full backs does a Pellegrini West Ham need/want?" Does he want 'liverpool' style ones, or Crystal palace? Looking at all the Pellegrini acquisitions, I think it's clear that in every position he wants players who look to do something with the ball at their feet - both...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

As West Ham fans we should be welcoming VAR with open arms - and if it had been in place last season we'd almost certainly have finished with ten points more than we did. This is the view I've held, but watching the women's world cup is really changing my mind. Almost every game I've watched has a ...

Re: The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

Spotting goalkeepers moving off the line is the new VAR fetish.
Wonder how long it will take before they start looking at players encroaching into the area before the kick is taken, like they should have done with France's retaken penalty against Nigeria

Re: The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

I've been a strong advocate of VAR since its introduction, since I saw it as a means of introducing more "justice" into a refereeing process that has become increasingly difficult as the game has increased in speed, fitness and general gamesmanship. But the way it's been implemented in this tourname...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread

A measure of how clownish Sullivan's record with strikers is is that Perez – who will likely be remembered as a flop – is probably in the top 3 best striker signings made since he took over. Arguably only Sakho and Hernandez ahead of him (Arnautovic wasn't signed as one). I'd argue that Demba Ba wo...
