Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I don’t think you can blame Moyes tactics last night. There’s a time and a place for shutting up shop and last night was it.

My issue is much more the Villa and Newcastle games, particularly Villa when he decided to pull the shutters down at the 45 minute mark.

Re: West Ham Utd v Tottenham: match thread

We’ll be ahead and playing pretty well, only for Moyes to shut up shop again which leads to us conceding.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

The most important thing to being defensively solid is to have defenders that are of a good enough standard. You can coach all you like, but that’s the crux of it. So why when we haven’t got good defenders, and aren’t defensively solid, does he generally instruct us to sit back and defend for 40 mi...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think the players are getting frustrated with the ‘shut up shop as soon as possible’ mentality.

Coufal in his post match interview said ‘we just let them play’, and it’s not the first time I’ve heard him make a comment like that, criticising our approach.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

And that’s why it’s hard to really want him to stay. 3-1 up, playing great stuff, completely changes how we’re playing to protect a two-goal lead. Awful substitution that didn’t work in any way, with Paqueta basically not there once he went up front, Phillips abysmal in every aspect of play. We do ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Exactly the same as the Villa game, unfortunately Moyes reverting to the shut out effectively cost us three points.

Our defenders are crap. Defending isn’t our strong suit. Why can’t he see that?

Apart from going on a mazy run to lay the ball on an absolute plate for Ward-Prowse.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Anyone who thinks Aston Villa are a pushover are deluded. Oh a losing Villa team upped the tempo second half while sitting in a CL spot. Do we expect teams to come and roll over? No. The team and Moyes were nothing less than desperately unlucky today. And we still drew. No ones saying they are a pu...

Tempted fate posting this.

He just couldn’t help himself in the second half could he.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Just got home. Farcical VAR decisions aside, the second half tactics need to be questioned today. We were so good in the first half. Unfortunately Moyes just can’t help himself and we reverted back to defending at the first available opportunity. 65 minutes is way too early in a game to bring subs o...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I’m by no means Moyes out, but he can hardly be surprised that the fans get frustrated with his tactics when we turn out such passive, weak performances like that first half. Two defensive midfielders, not closing down, no pressing high, sitting in our final third and letting them pick passes and p...

I really dont think he has set up to sit back tho two defenders CB suited to the high press phillips who on paper is a great mop up and release player paq , bowen and kudus 3 of the best attackers the club has had at one time no? id argue the only way he could have been more positive from the off i...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

The way we set up is bizarre. Surely he can see we are a much better team when we are on the front foot. How can you watch that first ten minutes against Brentford and then decide the way to approach Burnley at home is to sit back and be passive early on. Two games this week that I’ve no doubt we wo...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

Not all opinions are equal. Eg, JWP is less effective than he was for Southampton. False. The moon is made of cheese - it's my opinion. Sorry, false. When you're shown through a number of metrics that he is an effective player, to then deny that he is a wrong opinion. If you want to say 'I think On...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

For the sake of clarity, please name a player you think we needed. I don’t watch enough other football matches to give you a name, but I know the type of player we needed. Someone with some legs and pace, and a bit of strength. Our midfield still regularly gets played straight through the middle of...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

See above. The assists come from set pieces. Nobody doubts he is outstanding at them. Set pieces aside, I think he is an average player. He might have a 90% passing record, however from my seat he moves the ball too slowly and doesn’t get his head up enough. Add to that he doesn’t tackle very well,...
