Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

So, Wilko The squad: I reckon there’s more to it than simply put and black and white questions. But… I think it’s broken down by him, as TTS’s post alludes to. My opinion would be that over the years, he has not embraced a squad, just a core. To me, it’s outdated and not helpful for a team who play...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Interesting with Ward-Prowse. I don’t think he’s a bad signing if you assess his performances as an individual. I’d say he’s had a good season, especially because he does so much ugly work and hard running for people who won’t or can’t. He’s our best chance creator, scored a good amount of goals, pl...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

However, a few things in response: I’ll only quote that to save space. Much the same, I only replied so quickly before as it’s you. And whilst I’ve been short with some lately, I do understand that this thread grinds down the desire to respond fully sometimes. I’m not comparing style with Pep, more...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Like many things in life, it should be possible to make an argument for change whilst also realising the serious challenges that will entail, and create realistic parameters for success. Unfortunately what you so often get with the more militant posters for change are along the lines of “I’d rather...

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm

Weak, weak, weak. Attack offered nothing, Ings particularly atrocious and seemed to help Antonio to his worst performance of the season. Thankfully they stayed on together for 82 minutes… Defence is awful. Mavropanos does that with too much regularity, just hasn’t got a brain in there. Aguerd was be...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Definitely staying: Areola, Emerson, Mavropanos, Soucek, JWP, Alvarez, Kudus, Bowen. Ones we could keep, but can trade around: Paquetá (not by choice), Zouma, Aguerd, Coufal, Downes. Old heads we could keep to save money: Cresswell, Antonio, Ogbonna, Fabianski. Should be leaving: Ings, Cornet. (Keh...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Another flop end to the season as the manager stands and watches his side play abysmally. Hoping we change at the end of the season. Can’t defend, struggle to attack if one of the big four (and more specifically the three behind Antonio) is out, can’t use players outside a select small unit. We drag...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

It’s not the style, for me, but a performance like ours cannot be good unless we were playing against something good.

You can defend well without the other team being great, but you can’t make one chance against a team not playing well (defence and attack) and have played well yourself.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Hell of a risk. Chelsea have spent insane amounts and the progress is minimal. 15 points off them would take them below Everton, and I suspect that they’d have won less games if they were under relegation pressure, before even the attitudes kicked off.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Working on Moyes being manager, although I don’t think we hire a new manager who makes drastic changes: Definitely staying: Areola, Emerson, Mavropanos, Soucek, JWP, Alvarez, Kudus, Bowen. Ones we could keep, but can trade around: Paquetá (not by choice), Zouma, Aguerd, Coufal, Downes. Old heads we ...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

I thought we did very well at what we were forced to do. And for 99%, we didn’t have a choice. But it should not be ignored that they stopped us doing more. One chance created. There is absolutely no way Moyes wanted that, the plan was not to be so camped in our own defensive third. And it’s odd to ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

This. If Moyes brought on Anang for Antonio at HT Scarles for Emerson and Ogbonna for Zouma at 50th minute we'd have one eye on semi final right now. What's made me even more furious is that everyone could see that Soucek was struggling that game, and we've got prime Iniesta sitting on the bench tw...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I thought he got our tactics absolutely bang on last night. Alonso's side were made to look one dimensional, with no plan B. Why would he change it? He managed to make a Premier League team assembled at a great price look entirely ordinary. I loved the way we fought and scrapped, but he we had one ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

As it's the Moyes thread, it has to be said, if looks to his bench and there's very little options, then that is in some part down to him. I’m very much with you on that, both in the short term (Benny and Fornals, plus his disastrous use of Phillips) and long term (he’s not done enough to build tha...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Worth it cos the song would be so easy. I’m also fully in the camp of preferring us to not go all out for a headline-grabbing striker. Sure, Amoura and Ioannidis don’t have the pedigree of Toney, Solanke and others, but having pedigree as a striker and joining us is a good way to spend a year or two...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

We’ve gone away to a team that is running away with the German league. You can argue Bayern are weaker than they’ve been, and that’s true, but they also just went to The Emirates and were unlucky not to win. Leverkusen are very good, and arguably their brilliance has put the pressure on Bayern to ma...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Postcode checks on your tickets, folks. Thought we defended bravely, fought all over the pitch but missed Bowen/another fast attacking threat. No complaints, they were largely very good at dealing with the turnovers and showed great patience. I’d complain about Antonio getting no protection, but tha...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

For a 22 year old in his first season at his club (Jackson) to start 30 games for Chelsea tells me he isn't going anywhere soon. Unless they make a lot of money it won't make much of a difference immediately to their FFP situation (not like a homegrown will). Even if they buy a new striker, he will...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Toney is a really good player. I’m not 100% sure he can do what Mic does though. It takes a lot of hard running, bashing into people and selfless work. He’s an excellent striker and really good at link play, but we’d have to adapt a bit to get the best out of him. It often feels like they play two u...
