You are totally right - he wouldn’t have scored so many goals however had we had another decent striker
God darn you, Paris.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Do remember, you don't have to read anyone's posts. I do, you don't. :kumb: And try be kinder, it's not even deadline day yet! Otherwise, my prediction is: We play for a day, two or a few with "we want Caleta-Car on loan" whilst they demand a transfer. As it goes on, we agree to a transfer...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Antonio appears to be getting criticised because people are angry we havent signed another striker.

Not sure it's his fault

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

He’s only our record premier league goal scorer as he was the only option for the last few years - that’s the point… had Defoe been here for the last few years do you not think he would have scored/beaten our record as well? It's a touch unfair to have someone doing it and performing, then just say...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

100% I don’t get this that Antonio is the best CF we’ve had, especially in a long time. If we count Arnautovic as a CF then he is twice the player Antonio is. One is our record Premier League goalscorer, the other is ifs and buts. If anyone seriously thinks another striker with good finishing would...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Tottenham’s over reliance on Kane to play every minute has been one of their biggest downfalls imo. It’s a good comparison tbf, but it certainly doesn’t support mirroring their behaviour, it should act as a warning. Antonio’s form is also night and day from the first quarter to the second quarter o...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

But going that, Mike is our Song, who is a winger taking over striking duties, is it not? Sadly, we never had the 'Kane' to begin with. We kinda had a Kane, but we flogged our version (in a selling sense, not Daniel Levy and The Dribbler in Gimp masks, whips and chains) to Ajax. He's a striker now....

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Out of the top 10, how many of those have been playing with sole and knackered striker for a full year? Forgive me for this, but Spurs. They've been flogging Kane for years, and have only really been able to find success with a winger (Son) taking over striking duties in his absence. Sounds familiar.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

What worries me about Hlozek is that we appeared to be equally linked/excited about Sima from the Czech league, who has since gone on to make 2 appearances for Stoke in the C'ship, scoring 0 goals. Anyone know why he has played so little? Has he been crocked? Thought he was super highly rated. Was ...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Not particularly keen on Bayo. Doesnt in any way seem a striker who would fit how we play and what we need from a forward. Sounds like he'd be a good bench option for chasing a goal, but not sure why we'd invest £20m in a striker who we'd only really want for those moments. If Moyes thinks he can br...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Maybe we’re not in for a striker Manchester City want because he’s a striker Manchester City want. What would be the point? Maybe we did ask his representatives and they said “we’d prefer, by some distance, to join Manchester City”

If you’re going to put 50p in IB, he’s going to go on his reality-bending pro-Moyes rallies.

I’ll clean the thread up when I’m at my desk.

I do love the phrase "step up" for efforts on transfers. Right, time to stop faffing about, best actually try and do something now.

What a basket case of a club. We’ve only Mark Hughes, Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola since our takeover. That’s so few managers in comparison to other clubs.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Questioning why Marseille would accept a loan, but if it was £5m now, £17m fee agreed if we want him, they would see that as a good result. Bit of money now, the fee they want come summer. Whereas we overpay on a loan but mitigate that by either saving money we'd have spent on a fee if we'd bought h...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

That's not what his post said and he was right. But it does expose this weird attitude people have that we can only work on one thing at once. The same kind of thinking that gets people calling out posters for wanting a striker so they can get off on a fun signing. If there is a player Moyes wants ...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Lingard won't come in over a striker Moyes wants. He may well come in over Moyes doing something he isn't keen to do. Can't complain, Lingard offers the running from deep that only Bowen currently does, so it would be a good move if Bowen is going to play up front. I am very keen on Jesse for that r...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

The thing with Vlasic is, is it all just contextual? He's here at a good moment so gets a bit more patience. But I think he's actually shown less than Feghouli or Ayew, who arrived at a really poor moment for the club and so are generally considered poster children for wayward transfer decisions. O...
