Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Whatever the question is, Weghorst ain't the answer, not for a David Moyes team anyway Yeah, Moyes famously hates crossing. This current team barely ever crosses the ball. In our last game we only put in 29. He’d be serviceable as a second option, especially in a squad with Bowen and Lingard capabl...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Sure you can get most of your money back if you do not use him and recover a large part of the difference in fees by loaning the player out (thus losing his services). However for me losing £5m or £7.5m for a team like us is far more significant than it is for the Sky 6. Buy the player sure if you ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Every year we see “if he fails at least we will get our money back” - I can think of Fletcher who we basically got for peanuts where we made a profit. I can think of nobody who we paid a significant sum for (KLP is likely £15m plus) where we have got our money back when they have “failed”. For me t...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Weghorst is rubbish and we are not looming at him thank christ ... look at his Burnley contribution ... he is slow and immobile, just like Haller but with less skill. Disagree. Don’t think he’s what we need with our budget and how long it takes to sign a striker, but he impressed with his intellige...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

To be fair, for what we need, Weghorst is fine.

You can’t have a man like Haller as your back up, too much money for a plan b. You can have Weghorst.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I thought it was pretty agreed that Aguerd was basically done and they’ve done photos with the shirt?

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

No need to be so polite, but Benaloon beat me to it

I'm confident we'll sign Aguerd and Lingard. I think we'll end up with 5/6

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Finding it hard to be excited about Bissouma in May. Got the whole window ahead of us, too much hope left to care about adding a reasonable defensive midfielder to the team, the one thing we have got absolutely locked down. Get me in August and I'd be buzzing, but right now I just see a superfluous ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Were there even a hint of a possibility, Alvaro Morata would seem a perfect fit for us. Going to go to a bigger club, and he's 29 so practically dead, but he's one who can work hard, use physical strength and looks to bring others into things. Giroud with running, but less grace and probably not as ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Wage structures probably don’t have the “but think about the fee we saved” line. Doesn’t help Watkins, Ings, Mings, Ramsey.

It’s boom or bust, and I would rather we keep away from it.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Equally, you could argue we’re in our strongest ever position up front and have the space for a young, developing striker. Antonio is fantastic and his goals, assists and chance creation are extraordinary. A young striker who can be an option off the bench and in rotation is ideal. We’re in a positi...

It is easy to laugh as they are massively overpaying, but what else can a team without European football do?
Make incremental progress based on a smart and sustainable transfer model?

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Corriere di Verona have us "chasing" Giovanni Simeone. I cannot get on their site, but Hughballs has linked to it from SportWitness, who have found it from the Italians. Doesn't really strike me as a worthwhile thing to post, cos of the source, but I've written most of the words now. Will ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Bit less than that I think - a little above 70 metres, isn't it? Based upon the LOS, which is 115 yards in length, minus the two penalty areas (36 yards) so box-to-box = 79 yards (72m). Still some going, mind. Although this is my own fault for trying to do metric to imperial conversions around peop...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Yesterday someone shared a video of Aguerd running box to box in 7 seconds. About 100 yards? So 90 metres? In 7 seconds?

And it went unquestioned

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I've been banging the JWP drum for months, but he's not better than Pablo.

He is, however, a great fit for us. Can play in a two, can play at 10, probably best fit as an 8. Would be a massive upgrade on Lanzini in our team.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian (and formerly these parts, I believe) has written a piece about Chelsea's business. Other than the ambitious amongst you who might be interested in them selling Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic, among others, he also says Chelsea may have to sell Broja to raise funds and that ...
