Re: A place to call home: where next?

I'm doing a piss up in Salisbury for my birthday. I really like the place. Btw UTJ I didn't realise, but Cirencester has Kemble train station 3 miles away which runs direct trains to London which take 1 hr 15 mins. Not that I work for Cirencester council or anything, honest guv, I just think it is a...

Re: A place to call home: where next?

Correct on both counts, gentlemen. All I need is a viable broadband connection and I'm away. Though I am in the City (London, that is) maybe two or three times a month (not including WHUFC) so need a station not too many miles away. That's why we've been looking in Norfolk (Norwich line), Suffolk, ...

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

I'm never gone to a pub/bar alone, couldn't imagine doing so. I used to go to this pub in Bishop's Stortford where this man would stand next to the fruit machine by himself every Friday and Saturday night. Imaginatively we named him Mr Fruity. He did this for months on end. Then one day, my mate go...

Re: A place to call home: where next?

KUMB must surely be UtJ's full time job?! KUMB towers! That's reassuring. I fancy South Wales but am terrified I won't find a job and end up in retail or something. Some of the abuse I had from customers at Do It All or Littlewoods... We deal with a company in Swansea and they are based on a large ...

Re: A place to call home: where next?

Do you people find work opportunities in these smaller places? I've only ever really worked in Manchester and London because so many firms base themselves in the bigger cities. Granted, you can be anything from a dentist to a barber in any part of the country - but so many occupations rely on a com...

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

I'm not local, stuck in the grim north (Wigan area). I'm a loaner if the truth be told, I have low tolerance of other people and by the time I've done 9-10 hours at work I just want 'me' time. However 'me' time all the time is not the most healthy way to live. Heck, I spend most of my free time pla...

How about this property near Corsham. Corsham is a nice village near Bath and Chippenham.

Re: A place to call home: where next?

Coincidentally we (finally) had an offer on our gaff at the weekend. Might have to start looking again (having basically given up before Christmas). Anyone from round Devizes way? What's the area like? As I mentioned before, check out Cirencester too. The area around Devizes is generally picturesqu...

Re: Little things that irritate you

I'm convinced mobile phones listen to us as well. There have been a few times when I have been chatting to someone in a pub and when I go on the internet on my phone the adverts displayed are in reference to the conversation I have just had!

Re: 2nd Hand Car Considerations

Well, I do live in Switzerland where things are a bit more pointy & snowy so I think it's allowed :) It's also great for carrying passengers and luggage/trash without resorting to a dull as dishwater people carrier. But to be honest i don't really get the vitriol in some parts to 4x4 cars - my prev...

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

Hi HH, I cannot offer you much advice, but I can empathise a bit. I have had times where I have felt on my own, surrounded by people but feeling that not one of them actually gives a stuff about me. It is actually nonsense, a product of your own mind, and you have to remind yourself people have thei...

Jeremy Corbyn is probably available.
Might have to wait until later into January which suits GSB.

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

Great news DL.

Have a great Christmas everyone. I always use this time of year to plan what I want to achieve next year. Sets me in a positive state of mind. I plan to do some of the UKs more scenic train journeys or at least get one of them done next year.

Re: The Moaning About Christmas Thread.

I can understand those who don't enjoy it, if they have lost someone close, as predominantly, family is what it is all about. Personally, my family are quite difficult and my mum has a habit of upsetting people. So Christmas is a difficult time of year. Things are bit better if we go to the in laws...

Re: Who Next? The odds

Exactly, never got the media hype, surrounding Howe, and this just proves that he bang average. But if your face fits, what do stats and facts matter, eh? Now.. who's going to break it to hammerman11? To be fair to Howe though, Bournemouth have been in the Premier League for less time than we have ...

Re: Do we matter to other clubs fans.

Football these days is all about business and branding. Most football fans I meet support one of the big 6, especially if they come from the southern half of the country. When they talk about football they generally just recite what they have read in the media regardless of truth or fact. They have ...

Re: West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread 23/11/2019

The game will start slowly. We go 1-0 up on the 15th minute and ride our luck for a bit and nearly make it 2-0. Then we concede just before half-time. We capitulate in the second half and lose 4-1. West Ham is like a badly written soap opera and will always be. Even the so-called good seasons we hav...

Re: Counselling

The best by far is exercise. I know I have said this elsewhere before but exercise does not work for everyone. I only do exercise to keep my fitness up as I do a sedentary job. I really do not gain any mental health benefits from it and never have. Sometimes it actually induces negative feelings wh...
