Re: What did you watch last night?
I am three episodes into Sneaky Pete on Prime. I'm really enjoying it so far, despite being massively uncomfortable with the lead character being a card-carrying scientologist.

Re: Little things that irritate you
Since we're on the subject of talentless ****ers, there is a woman at work that is married to a wealthy guy and they are trying to buy a house in London. She has an offer in for £3m on a place. Supposedly Matt Hancock took a look at it but didn't fancy it, and anyway, his budget is £4m. How the merr...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I’m not sure about ‘well run’ GSBGSB - if we underspend to the point that we finish lower and fail to get European football then we aren’t well run. Investment of £10m could have led to increased income via league and securing Europe of around £30m for example. I agree. I don't think we are well ru...

RIP. Supposedly had a seizure in his car. He probably beat Amir Khan back in the day, but Khan was given a long count.

That was a quality scrap last night.
I saw Pat Barratt hit Tony Willis so hard in St Albans one night I thought he'd never get up. Enormous punch, it took Willis ages to come around. Scary stuff.

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread
Maybe but they’re pretty unnecessary aren’t they. I don’t know where you want this or any discussion is to go if you’re just going dismiss anyones opinion with stats. Clearly I’m fully aware of the scoreline and all of the stats, but they don’t demonstrate how we nearly pulled off our objective. It...

I’m not saying that xG is perfect. But it is useful.El brooko79 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 3:14 pm xG only shows shots.
When Antonio beat 3 CBs but his cross didn't find Paqueta that is zero xG.
But I would give that passage of play 0.19 xG.
But get you point

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Yes, it offers some limited and partial insight based on particular assumptions. But that's all. They are sometimes trotted out on here as though they should be substituted for real results. In the end, the only stats that matter are real goals for and against, wins, draws, losses, and league posit...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread
I thought that maybe the 2nd goal was a bonus for them. Chances created obviously mean nothing as otherwise the score would have been 33-1, which is as ridiculous as seeing some of these xG stats that appear to be inaccurate most of the time. None of the chances they created that led to 30 odd shot...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
No, it's selective stats to justify a subjective viewpoint (i.e., not liking how we win games / get points)... not a true measure of 'performance'. Points are there for that (i.e., beating teams, scoring more than they do) over a long period of time. It's really quite irrelevant in the context of l...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
If the two were the same then xG wouldn’t exist. What xG is attempting to do is strip out some of the variance involved in actual goals, which is what people seem to struggle with.bubbles1966 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 2:30 pm There's a difference between real goals and xG.
Some people seem to be struggling to grasp that.

put it this way, if anyone ever wants to dig it out, there would be some pretty red faces on the views of the player and the talent that could have been had out of Scotland... saying that it was a long time ago and I have trouble remembering what I ate yesterday I saw Kane in the fizz and thought h...

People thinking the Scottish league is in general bad does not mean that they are averse to signing certain players from there. At least I’m not.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 1:41 pm People moaning about not signing Frimpong? Any time a player from the Scottish league is suggested all you get is howls of derision

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Why throw out a load of irrelevant stats? The only stat that matters in terms of league position is points gained... of which we are 7th in the league. The rest is all window dressing to validate your point of view. I'm sure your confident they mean something... but they don't in terms of league ta...
