Re: West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread 23/11/2019

Jeering your own keeper is muggy and isn’t going to help anything. It’s nothing new though - I’m old enough to remember us destroying Mervyn Day in this way. We’re stuck with him for the time being, why utterly destroy the last vestiges of his confidence? Agree with this whole-heartedly. Its such p...

Re: West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match Thread 23/11/2019

Did you watch the game? He didn't do one thing. Got beaten to every 50/50. Every single first touch or lay off gave the ball away. Didnt make any runs behind and was not in any way a danger in the opposition box. He didn't even make much attempt to close down their defenders when they had the ball....

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

I certainly agree they could/should have invested more but the crux is the amount they have invested has been badly invested. We're not at the stage yet to simply add one £40-50m per season. They needed to be far more astute and sign players to build a squad first, this maybe should be in the "has ...

Re: Are we signing the right calibre of players?

I'm sure a fair few were pleased at the summer business; i definitely remember many saying how we would make a real go of top 6 (which i said was very fanciful given how defensively frail we were even in pre-season). I don't know how much of it is about the right calibre of players, and how much of ...

Re: ⚽ Burnley FC v West Ham United: Match thread (09/11)

Because I don’t understand the structure of who buys our players or builds the squad. "There is unhappiness within the club at the decision to sign Roberto on a free transfer last summer. The 33-year-old Spaniard was identified by West Ham’s director of football, Mario Husillos, and the signing was...

They have throwwn money at crap and where does it show we are 8th highest spenders ? Not questioning your point but would like to see where these figures are from. Is that spenders or 'net' spenders ? No worries. And both gross and net spend. https://www.transferleague.co.uk/premier-league-last-fiv...

Re: ⚽ Burnley FC v West Ham United: Match thread (09/11)

Because I don’t understand the structure of who buys our players or builds the squad. By accounts mentioned on this site, Pellers has had direct say in signings. I highly doubt Sullivan would have been scouting Fornals, or Roberto. Both whom have strong links to Pellers and his staff. The notion th...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

The guy has been here under a year and a half? And the point I’m making that in that time they invested in one window, that’s why I think the blame lies with them, that amongst many many reasons but no Pellegrini shouldn’t be sacked for their short comings in the past year and a half no A year and ...

The commentator on the stream I watched today said we've covered the least ground (ran the fewest kilometres) of any PL team so far this season.
Yeah that was a damning stat.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

Basing off these stats on our summer transfer activity - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379 We invested £23.683m into the squad during the summer transfer window. Whilst saving an absolute ton in wages from the departing players like Carroll, Hernandez and so on Fo...

Re: ⚽ Burnley FC v West Ham United: Match thread (09/11)

We can blame the board for this. Penny pinching means we have no squad. Injured or out of form players aren't replaced. Everything is done on the cheap and it continues to happen, even after our next level move. Im hearing this a lot - and ive mentioned this in another thread - but we're 8th highes...

Because when you look bigger picture the same events happen on a loop! You mention the price of Haller and Fornals! I doubt Burnley made a sale to the price of what we got for Arnie either? The “net spend” in the summer was average at best There’s a culture problem at West Ham and the finger needs ...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

It's not that we don't spend... We don't spend well. Actually, we waste it. Zaza, Tore, Evra, Arbeloa, Wilshere, Caroll... You get the idea. Totally agree with this. And some of the blame has to lay with the managers. I'm not GSBs biggest fan by a long shot, but every time we lose, they get slagged...

In the world of Premiership football the investment we have is small
We have the 8th highest gross and net spend in the PL over the last 5 years.

Its slightly above average.

Mainly because of the sales of Maguire, Mahrez, Kante etc.

Leicester don’t undermine Rogers in the media either.
Agreed, but all top class players who they sold and needed replacing.

In terms of gross spend, Leicester have spent about £70M more than us during the 5 years period.

Regardless of what we consider to be an adequate level of backing, Pellegrini can't be considered to have had none. These performances and results are simply well below what we should be producing. He isn't doing his job well enough.
Basically this.
