Re: Midweek Games April 9-11

Fabulous goal…a Palace side toying with the Liverpool defence. Who’d have expected that?!

Re: Midweek Games April 9-11

I'd have yanked those two petulant twats off right away were I Poch... disgraceful... Doesn’t enhance the managers reputation one bit either. As Jeff Stelling has just said on TalkSPORT, no one was fighting to take the ball off Palmer when he stepped forward to take critical last min pens vs M City...

Re: Postecoglou: are the cracks beginning to show? [non WHU]

Along with Liverpool probably play the most exciting style in the division. Spurs are going to finish in the top 6 which is about where they should be and their fans have had more fun watching them play in years. Playing a cavalier brand of football is what they’ve demanded - with that comes a high ...

Re: VAR 2023/24

Wrong decision for that MU pen at Bournemouth for sure. Mind you, even the PL hasn’t seen a pen overturned, just after it’s been converted…. It’s happened tonight in Germany… https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13305321/Borussia-Dortmund-penalty-overturned-VAR-absurd-circumstances-vid...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Surprise recall for Nathan? We need he pace, I feel, compared to Ogbonna and Cresswell. 3-4-3: Fabianski; Mavrop, Zouma, Aguerd; Johnson, Soucek, JWP, Emerson; Kudus, Antonio, Paqueta. Bowen hopefully fit enough to replace Mic on 70, along with Coufal for Johnson. Bowen is confirmed as out sadly.

CL football at the knock out stages is like watching a different sport to what most of the PL

Think this right.

I’m surprised there aren’t more unique combinations. There are countless options that would be eg yellow/grey, claret/black, orange/green etc

Imagine having to watch that.
Indeed.
Some of those Sheff Utd tackles though!? Should really be down to 10 men if not 9.

Re: Postecoglou: are the cracks beginning to show? [non WHU]

I mentioned elsewhere a few days ago on a different thread. An interview he gave this week confirmed that his team has the same attacking approach regardless of the score line. It’s a trademark of his style at every club he’s been at. That way he says, the players have a clarity not clouded by havin...

Re: Stopping the cheating

It’s true there have always been players with a reputation of cheating. The difference now is VAR should be being used to expose and punish them. Even if officials somehow still manage to cock it up during the game

I agree btw re the first pen being incorrect too.

Excellent article and long overdue. Conversely you have muppets like Dermot Gallagher with his own bizarre opinion on the second penalty. https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/no-doubt-ex-ref-delivers-strong-verdict-on-controversial-newcastle-united-v-west-ham-incidents-4575...

Who else doesnt think Paqueta will leave? I don't thibk he will. In fact, I would lay money on it, because I think he love West Ham He won’t be going anywhere until the betting charge is resolved one way or another. Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

There was a very interesting interview with Postecoglu in yesterday’s Standard. He was asked how come Spurs so often come back from a goal down to secure points. His explanation was that it was a characteristic of every team he had previously managed and based on the fact that he coaches his team to...

Re: VAR 2023/24

I’ve not got a problem in players being found to be offside by a “toenail” on the basis that if we scored a goal that was judged over the line by a toenail, we’d expect it to stand. Fine margins should apply in both scenarios imo

The bigger issue is the incompetence of the officials
