Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

Foden, Mainoo and Bellingham are really special players.
Such a shame it’s all undermined by a lack of quality and leadership at the back.

I agree. Downes is perfect for possession-obsessed Saints.
Even if they don’t go up, I’d expect him to be bought. He’s proved very popular with their fans.

Re: England -v- Brazil (C4 from 1900)

Didn't watch the game. Haven't really been that interested in England games for a long time, especially friendlies, qualifiers etc. The anti Southgate argument seem pretty similar to the anti Moyes ones. And yet both have brought relative success to teams that haven't had it for decades. Weird 🤷‍♂️...

Maddison is probably that player imo. Does so regularly for Spurs.

Re: Non-League Day

Might go to Worthing v Bath City tomorrow. Worthing were flying in 2nd for promotion to the Conference but have had their manager poached by York, and their form has dipped. They may still make the play-offs though and might even pass York coming down in the opposite direction. Also being shown on ...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

Sometimes, rather than always blaming the manager, it’s relevant to acknowledge the quality of the opposition and the ability of their manager to tweak things too. Yesterday was a case in point imo and a fair result. Villa are not chasing a CL place for no reason. Our biggest weakness is a lack of q...

Something is up for sure.

Im guessing an addiction to cheesy Wotsits would explain his odd colour.

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips

Danny Murphy is saying that from talking to one or two people he knows, Southgate will stick pick him for the next England squad and take him to Germany. I know they play in different positions but quite remarkable if he’s picked and Bowen isn’t. The lack of match fitness is an interesting one. Comp...

Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

Cant see Ings ever having a future at WH unless we revert to playing on the front foot against the ordinary sides as we did yesterday in the 2nd half.

He just does not suit a side that sits deep and relies on breakaways imo.
