3-4-3: Fabianski; Zouma, Ogbonna, Aguerd; Coufal, Soucek, Alvarez, Johnson; Bowen, Antonio, Kudus.
Fabianski is misdirecting the enemy. We'll go gung ho from kick off.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
That's a key point though I guess? The opportunity to balance the books with the Rice sale ends mid June? Not quite sure what you mean. This season's books are balanced very nicely. Whilst we could buy a player in June, most of the cost would be in following seasons' books. Unless it's a loan with ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
So sell a player with a book value of £10m for £60m. At the same time buy a player for £50m on a 5 year contract. FFP impact is. Year 1: +£40m Year 2 - 5: -£10m a season. How can you operate like that? Surely it's just gonna get harder 4 years on when you have multiple transfer window commitments e...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
So we only make money on the P and L from selling players, ie the funds being paid and only that paid in that year, so a 30m transfer out on a five year contract means we can only book a 6m revenue item for this season, but similarly a 50m purchase over 5 years means we have a debit item for 10m. I...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
expecr we’ll book £50m profit on Paqueta and would have more capacity due to that, but we didn’t utilise the full profit on Rice in that way so not anticipating we do on Paqueta either. If we go mad spending wise you can probably start the clock on selling Kudus the following summer. Indeed, the pr...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Then assume we’ll lose the following in the summer: Aguerd (£30m over 5 years is £6m per annum amortisation off books), Paqueta (£42m / 5 = £8.5m) Benrahma (£23m / 5 = £4.5m) Kehrer (£10m / 5 = £2m) Ings (£15m / 2.5 = £6m) That’s £26.5m per annum. Maybe another £3m for Cornet. if we buy new players...

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm
Amazed Antonio is starting. With Paqueta and Bowen out we’re going to need a long shift from him on Thursday and he was our most effective weapon in the first leg. My guess is that Moyes believes our chances of beating Fulham by 1 goal over 90 mins are bigger than beating Leverkusen by 3 over 90. (...

That feels like an attacking lineup to me. I guess the plan is to get an hour out of Antonio, with either Soucek or Cornet coming on for him.

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm
Strongest team we can muster, bearing in mind that Antonio and Zouma need a break, esp if we manage to drag next Thursday to extra time. 3-4-3: Fabianski; Mavrop, Ogbonna, Aguerd; Johnson, Alvarez, JWP, Emerson; Cornet, Ings, Paqueta. Higher line and Fab as sweeper keeper in a trial run for Thursday...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Thankfully he isn't as daft as Vincent Kompany and knows that tactics should take account of the relative capabilities and efficiencies of individual footballers and adjusted accordingly. Not sure Kompany is daft; more that Burnley's objective is not limited to staying up at all costs (in every sen...

Surprise recall for Nathan? We need he pace, I feel, compared to Ogbonna and Cresswell. 3-4-3: Fabianski; Mavrop, Zouma, Aguerd; Johnson, Soucek, JWP, Emerson; Kudus, Antonio, Paqueta. No Bowen, Areola or Phillips, so the proverbial bare bones bench. Maybe WBs will get replaced to match Alonso's us...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
The way to take advantage of Chelsea is to steal their players for lower fees than they would normally be. I’d start with Jackson, who is the kind og chaotic that would suit West Ham. And one I think they’ll believe themselves too good for in the short term. The problem is Chelsea need transfer pro...

3-4-3: Fabianski; Mavrop, Zouma, Aguerd; Johnson, Soucek, JWP, Emerson; Kudus, Antonio, Paqueta.
Bowen hopefully fit enough to replace Mic on 70, along with Coufal for Johnson.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
If Moyes stays I’d quite like us to go for Barkley if Luton get relegated. He’s been quality for them this season playing a slightly deeper role, home grown and probably on a free if Luton go down. I know this suggestion would of got a lot of hate 12 months ago, but he's certainly changed my opinio...

Re: Everton FC: 10 Point Deduction Confirmed for PL FFP breach
I think Everton getting relegated would be the best thing for them personally. They’re bang in trouble and need a complete rebuild. Not sure about that in Everton's case, given they've taken on huge debt to build a stadium which they'd probably forfeit if they went into administration. Could end up...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread
Looking for a form line.... Freiburg finished nine points clear of them in last season's Bundesliga - they've jumped from 50 points to what will be 80 + That's proper strange. Very high level explanation follows: In 21-22, Leverkusen came 3rd, but it was felt that they needed to dominate possession...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Boniface looks quite risky at the price Leverkusen might want: he's already done an ACL and missed 3 months this season with a thigh injury. Wasn't such a big risk for the €20m they paid, but they'd be looking to double their money at least. And he'd be looking for big money as well.
