West Ham 5 Cambridge United 0 - Pop got 2 if memory serves me right , most came near the end .
One of them was a great goal - a pass out to the wing - a great centre by (iirc) Pat Holland and a brilliant flying header from Pop in front of the South Bank. Thanks for the reminder.

If you expect zero levels of humanity and decency from those who made money by using the sons and daughters of others to make money in the sex industry then you will never be surprised, shocked, disappointed or disgusted.

Re: 1989/90 season revisited

If my memory serves me right the Port Vale game was the day of the poll tax riots. Police horses charging round Trafalgar Square. The days when people actually cared enough to do something about things! Anyway, I enjoyed that season. Stand out moment for me was Martin Allen’s debut early on in the ...

Re: If there was no West Ham ?

If West Ham had never existed then I’m pretty sure it would have been Charlton or Millwall so thank **** I had a third option. 🙂

If they ceased to exist now then no one - I’d spend retirement following Kent County Cricket Club.

Re: 1978-79 season revisited

I went to the home 2 0 win over Bristol Rovers but cannot remember much at all. I can’t remember who scored but I think this was the game David Cross was sent off for two bookings in a minutes to earn his nickname. Funny thing is he was never a psycho but we wanted him to be. :) We started off on f...

Re: Bird advice .... the feathery kind!!

We are lucky this year as we have had greenfinches for the first time fir a few years. We haven’t seen any young, but the goldfinches have had a great breeding year. Gold finches seem to be everywhere at the moment. I must look it up but they seem like a success story to me. I’m hoping green finche...

Are you in the Chilterns, JBB? In the past 15 years the Welsh kites have migrated as far East as here, and there are three of four nesting sites in Worcestershire/South Shrops.Majestic describes them perfectly. Those birds around the Chilterns were from Spain originally iirc Tenners. Welsh kites ar...

You can change the manager You can change the players You can change the badge You can even change the stadium But as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow after beating Man U we were going to lose tonight. Same old West Ham....... 100% wrong. Sure, we’d always lose to the likes of Oxford, Wimbledon e...

Also Chelski fans....they really think they are something special....but ask them anything about the 80's ... It was like reeling in fish. I used to ask Chels who claimed to be Chels before the Russian who they signed Joe McLaughlin of. Not one knew. Had one latter day Chels season ticket holder te...

Re: Joey Beauchamp - WH fans made me a scapegoat

We certainly came out of that deal bad. I mean, we effectively swapped him for Adrian Whitbread, who played 10 games for us over 2 years. £1million was a lot of dough back then. It certainly was for us - our main summer signing and the kind of player a pedestrian, workmanlike team really needed. I ...

I feel that Bournemouth, with Wilson and King, could well be the acid test.
Whoever wins this game might just start to have ideas above what are supposed to be our stations.

Re: Brian Clough: 15 years on (non WHU)

Won the league at Derby. No ones supposed to be able to do that. How do you top that? You get another East Midlands side and get them promoted one year. League champions the next. European Cup winners the next. And the next. Even writing that down forty years on it doesn’t look right - it looks more...

... but not good news for my lot - Kent. Currently the forecast looks like we'll get about a day and a half's play. If so we'll be pipped for third by Hants, that's assuming Yorkshire are affected by rain too. Anyway, it's been a decent season for Kent. They blew it in the T20 having been in the box...

Whenever I am in the Brick Lane area I always return for a salt beef Biegel, gherkins, lots of mustard. Me too. I also get a salmon and cream cheese bygal, no baygal, err, roll with a hole. I justify it because a) I might be around there twice a year if I'm lucky and b) I'm a greedy ****er.

Re: Bird advice .... the feathery kind!!

My son and I walked (albeit somewhat slowly) past the churchyard at the bottom of our street Tuesday afternoon .Pleasantly surprised to see a couple of house martins 'dive bombing 'us ,( the swallows left about 10 days ago, while my summer friends the swifts have been back in Africa for weeks). It ...
