Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread

Post International break is always hard to call. Its now the business end of the season where anything can happen and usually does. Suspensions, injuries, drop in form, good/bad fortune, VAR, etc. etc. April will determine our season. Fingers crossed.

Re: Season ticket renewal 24/25

I will need to check my historical posts but im sure i may have mentioned once or twice the fans would get shafted as a result of the move. I specifically forecast the elimination of concession seats in prime locations. Sunderland pioneered it when they moved from Roker Park. However, just because ...

Re: Season ticket renewal 24/25

In difficult times I can fully understand the negative reaction of many STHs to this news, including myself. However, is it a surprise and are we any different to nearly every other supporter of a Premier League club? No. From a business perspective, I can understand it and it does make 'financial' ...

Re: Sam's ear

I never had a problem with Big Sam. Indeed, he was the right man at the right time for us. I was never offended by anything he did or said, in fact I made him right most if the time. I think we fans can be a wee bit overly precious some times.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I believe a lot of speculation on players (both incoming and outgoing) is a little premature. I MHO, there will be changes at board level, ground (LS) and Moyes will not be here. I am not deliriously happy about all 'unknowns' , but it has a huge impact on who/when as far as transfers /exits are con...

Re: Top Flight Clubs Fail to Agree EFL Funding Deal

In the end I suppose we 'supporters', get what we deserve. On the one hand we bitch about ownership, too much money, no fan representation, go watch your local club, ground moved, badge changes, moving games because of tv etc. etc. etc. On the other hand we want everything to stay the same!! Do we re...

Re: VAR 2023/24

The laws of the game need changing, and then the use of VAR streamlined to accommodate those changes. Also, use the latest technology to assist, not the Atari stuff they have now.

Re: Top Flight Clubs Fail to Agree EFL Funding Deal

How to make football more of a corrupt farce..? Just add government involvement. Well, it's meant to be an 'independent' regulator, rather than a government one, and include 'fan' involvement both within itself and the clubs. I can understand the scepticism, but I only have to read Sullivans reacti...

Re: Nottingham Forest Deducted 4 points

Football has survived without the need for outside regulation for well over a century. And usually when government starts sticking it's nose in where it isn't needed, or for that matter wanted, it's not usually too long before everything goes tits up. Well that is a fair 'capitalist' view Kermit, f...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

i am intrigued by this for what reason? i expect you will say 'style of play' for Guardiola, yet you don't seem to allow those who are not so keen on Moyes to use that as a reason to not be 100% behind him! Negative, ultra defensive, boring football. Anti entertainment. To be fair Crouchie, I do un...

Re: Top Flight Clubs Fail to Agree EFL Funding Deal

I still don't understand why it's government's business to tell the PL, other than paying its taxes what it must do with its money. I don't disagree that it's in the PL's interest to financially support lower levels, but I can't see why this particular sport should have a government regulator impos...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

That's my view. Gillett thinks Villa have advantage/possession, as soon as they lose it he pulls the game back. You don't generally play advantage for a foul on the keeper, they are encouraged to blow immediately. He also didn't shout or wave play on (which also he should do). The penalty area is n...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

The Kudus decision was yet another "what on earth are you doing" from Gillet. It's not a foul on the keeper who was doing his usual **** house antics. It makes the Mcburnie one even more annoying if a ref thinks that's a foul. Whether or not it was a foul I dont see that he blew up for th...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

I’d go two minutes, and I’d also have a rule that each team was allowed one extension per game. But I’d have it as two minutes and the referee has to go to the monitor during the second minute. Make him make a choice if they can’t. I’d also be training VAR referees. Then id have the VAR room with o...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

  Of course he deserves credit, we were brilliant in the first half. Aggressive, forcing mistakes, playing on the front foot. A proper energetic performance. Second half you saw the panic set in and the mindset shift. This is the frustrating thing with Moyes, I want him to do well. I l...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

Yesterday was a good example of everything that is wrong with modern day match officialdom. The powers that be have forgotten that the 'game' is supposed to be about 'entertainment' and their role is to ensure that the public get that whilst also ensuring the welfare of players and applying, fairly,...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

Shame is, what was a pretty entertaining game between two evenly matched sides was ruined by over officious officials. I am not commenting on the right or wrong of the decisions, but the unacceptable amount of time taken to examine the minutea of an incident(s) and waving the yellow card about with ...
