Re: Return of The I've Been To The Cinema To See thread
Dune part 2 last weekend. Can't really remember much about it other than it was a bit long and there was sand and worms. It was visually superb and there was a story, as far as I can remember but, and this is not specific to the film, I don't really care about squabbling space-aristos, which is one ...

'3 body' is one of the most intriguing things I've seen in yonks. I like sci-fi but so much out there is hackneyed and predictable whereas this definitely isn't The fact that they started bringing god into it early doors* made me switch off but if you lot say it is ok, then I'll give it a chance.. ...

Re: Cost of living crisis
Did a quick afternoon trip to Andorra yesterday just to get out of the city and up into the snow capped mountains and did a bit of shopping for mates mainly. Petrol was 40 cents /litre cheaper, so that almost paid for the trip, then I ha ve 3 friends who smoke so I bought 3 boxes of 200 fags at a th...

I am Pro Israel's right to exist and defend itself despite being left-leaning politically (aka a heretic who should be first against the wall come the revolution) but the the West's failure to act on the illegal theft and colonisation of Palestinian land puts a big dent in any legitimacy we might ha...

For the young woman, I have nothing but sympathy and I hope she has the courage and luck to get through this, as I do for anyone suffering from this b*stard of a disease (took my Dad and has tried, unsuccessfully, twice, to take my Mum). For the "Princess", I couldn't give a flying one.

Day 23 ad all is well.
Won the pub quiz on Thursday, on the Brooklyn Special Effects alcohol free. First prize was a bottle of gin, which is behind the bar, waiting for me.
5 days to go. No problem at all. Quite relieved, really.
Well Done everyone who's trying. Proud of us.

Not 'always', but right now and then for always. Aah comes I have my water stopcock turnt off, but the carsey still flushes? There's no water tank, so is it a seperate municipal supply? I mean it's great cos it justifies Council Tax & Water charges, but wtf? Interesting post of the year but wan...

Had an involuntary mullet back in the late 80s: hair was getting a bit long and I went to the "Barber" in my Dad's village. 'Barber' in inverted commas as he was a trawlerman who had an antique barber's chair (but no mirror!) in his spare room and would cut your hair for a pint of lager in...

Not *quite* sure I'd agree there. If you're not inherently interested in that neck of the woods, I'd agree, there's better tourist cities. If you have a specific interest in LA culture (skate/surf/music/fashion/cinema etc), there's plenty to see & do. Went there for a weekend with my nephew, wh...

Very late to the party but I've been binge-watching The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and am loving it.Trying to slow down a bit now I'm getting close to the end (always a good sign) to eke it out for a bit longer. Good writing and acting, interesting story arcs, great period setting (NY, late 50s/early 60s)...

Slift were great. Next up: Hoshi on the 2nd of April (don't care about her music, just going with a West Ham-supporting mate whom I haven't seen for years, who bought me a ticket) Then, A Place to Bury Strangers on the 18th. The Loudest band in New York. Billed as noise-rock, post-punk, shoegaze. I ...
