Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

Shanghai, Three failed suicide attempts is a sobering statement for us all to ponder on. You mention that the depression has largely gone away but not really said why (I think). Was there anything (or anyone) in particular that helped you along the way? A couple of things helped. One was just someo...

Re: The Mental Health Thread - (Help Contacts in First Post).

When people are suffering mental ill health they'll often remember an event or events from childhood that they believe (rightly), probably triggered it. Overt physical, sexual or verbal abuse that they were subjected to. Real reasons to suffer mentally at the time & also, much later on in life....

Have you seen some of the people that use the tube?
Yes that’s also a good one. In an annoyingly cheerful voice too.

Re: Watton, Norfolk

Having come back from my Worldwide travels I'm now living in Norwich. Lived here for a few teenage years, now many years later I've come back. Norwich is a decent city. Lots of independent restaurants, cafes etc. Plenty of things to do and see. The North Norfolk coast is also one of the best in the ...

Re: Little things in life that make you smile

Please let us know if you’re safe, just watching the news and reports that an armed gang has taken control of a five star hotel there Mumbai style :| Good point, yes that was terrible. Thanks for the concern. I've worked in Nairobi before but for this trip I took another flight to Tanzania where I'...

Re: Little things in life that make you smile

Flying from Heathrow to Nairobi last night and being upgraded to business class for no reason whatsoever.

This followed watching my son's football team yesterday go 3-0 down just after half time and drawing 4-4. It was like watching West ham but in reverse.

Re: A thread to discuss depression and other mental issues...

I wonder if there is another reason (there are probably more) why people sometimes don't seek help. All the while that you don't, it's not 'official'. It's not been written down somewhere & can't ever be used 'against you'. Spot on. That was the main reason I didn't seek help. It also takes a c...

How PTSD is becoming fashionable. I saw the following headline a weeks or so ago: "Keira Knightley has revealed she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as she struggled with her sudden rise to fame". I've see similar things from other celebs when they have split up fro...

Re: A thread to discuss depression and other mental issues...

You know what SH, I reckon that you'll be ok, even if you were wanting a visa for the USA. They treat each case on their own merits & from what you have said, the nature of the offence, the time ago it was, I really think that you would be ok. It would certainly have long since disappeared off ...

Shanghai, How important are those overseas visas to your work? And have you thought about applying for one yourself just to test the water? Tough to say really. I have actually worked overseas for 15 years out of the past 20, The problem is that different countries ask different questions so its a ...

Re: A thread to discuss depression and other mental issues...

Shanghai. Go to see whoever it is at your work (HR, your boss) that you need to see. Own up and own the situation. Don't let another week pass where you are stressing about this. You're not a fraud so don't convince yourself that you are. Whatever happens from there happens but you move on. I'd bet...

Re: A thread to discuss depression and other mental issues...

anyway, doesn't a conditional discharge "expire" after a few years? (taken off the record too?) Was spent 23 years ago unless you work with kids, which I don't, so I don't need to declare it. However for police certificates for overseas visas it stays on until you get to 100! Not quite th...

Re: Things you've always wanted to know......

Condensation forms when moisture in warm air lands on a cold surface. Its also to do with the fact that when its raining the air is fully saturated with water vapour. Therefore only a slight change in temperature will cause condensation to form. When its hot and dry the air may be only 10% saturate...

Re: David Moyes: should he stay or should he go? [POLL]

Without considering his history and based completely on what he has done since he has been appointed he should be given longer and money to spend. He's picked up Bilic's team and has clearly made some improvements, better fitness, some semblance of a structure and helped to get a big improvement out...

Re: [POLL] Are YOU happy at the Olympic/London Stadium?

I'll add that I felt more like an audience member watching some sort of event rather than a supporter at the game. That's well put and the feeling that I have. For the first 15 minutes of my first game I thought that the move may work well. Then once the game started reality dawned. Its just so far...

The Opta stats that get collected for every major match. How do they collect the data? The know how many miles each players ran during each game for example. Does each player have a chip in their strip somewhere? That wouldn’t be so difficult to do but when it comes to stats like passes completed th...

Please let one of these go in or I'll start to believe we're going to get mugged.
(I think I may be a glass half empty kind of guy).

Great performance though.
