Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

our players already follow the ball; trouble is they cant get near it. coufal zouma soucek JWP are too slow to play a pressing game . its comical watching us try and press. normally one player has a go, turns around to see his team mates standing watching him so gives up and runs back into his posi...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Your point about the underlying annual amortisation is a good one, but when you sell a player you book out all the remaining value against the transfer fee in one season. So when you trade a player with a high book value you get an amortisation spike as well as an income spike. With in-season squad...

Possibly - Palmeiras play a unique brand of football, very tight interplay with players effectively following the ball creating overloads.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

He's expected to replace Dumfries who is likely to move on, and has gotten positive reviews from the Manager so far. I suggested him a couple windows ago before his move, because he remains the exact type of player we need. Pacy, holds the ball, draws fouls, gets stuck in. Needs work on his finishi...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Is there any point in Steidten being in Brazil to scout strikers if we don't know who the manager is going to be next season? Yes, because the manager will be a coach, not in charge of playing philosophy or transfers in and out. So of course its key that Steidten starts scouting now - some on here ...

Except Brady no longer has any management sway in the boardroom.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

If you take Greenwood's and Lyall's cup legacy's yes, but both of those managers resided over poor league positions in one could say easier times to finish top half, where it was more about youth coming through an dless about the funds to bring players in. I would say Moyes has ensured we have punch...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

If he does go he has left a fantastic legacy, most successful manager in our history, won a European cup, top 7 finishes in 2 of 3 difficult seasons where we had to rebuild the side, probably a very decent finish league wise this year coupled with a qtr final Europa appearance against the probable w...

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm

There is zero point in resting anyone, we are unlikely to win on Thursday, and given the results went for us yesterday Moyes needs to now focus everything on a top 6 finish. Antonio isn't going to win us the game on his own on Thursday and there are 4 days of rest not the usual 3, and Inga is clearl...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

One thing's for sure, when he goes to City pep will ruin him, like he's done his other creative force Grealish. He will be forced to drive forward and constantly play the ball back and recycle again. City are so boring to watch he will become frustrated and I would see him suspended more than he is ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I find the fpp baffling tbh but short term are Chelsea in a massive hole? Take this season. They spent 450m+, split over 5 years that's 90m a year. The academy sales are pure profit so they are almost break even on those 3 sales alone. Havertz was a 35m fpp profit, most everyone they sold was a fpp...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I have no doubt the board will offer Moyes a new contract end of season, but Moyes may not take it. He won't get another premiership top job in my view, but he may well fancy returning to Jockland, or working for UEFA - but I think it will be his decision not the board's if he is here next season.

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

The only replay that showed Soucek had moved his arm towards the ball was the very last angle, but they used 2 other angles multiple times that were clearly never going to prove anything, yet they kept running them back and forth - this is what needs to be stopped, if you run it from one angle and i...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

That is a great point and one that’s conveniently glossed over. Villa were poor and there for the taking, M oyes negative tactics and lack of the right subs denied us three points. -again far too defensive/negative - why not bring Ings on for Antonio, why put Bowen central where he has not in the g...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)

We played a lot better than I thought we would. We attacked well and were ultimately unfortunate not to come away with 3 points. My opinion on the standard of refereeing is that it isn't corruption, it's outright incompetence. Two of those goals were right to be ruled out, albeit they should have m...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think this is as far as we can go without better ownership (doesn't have to be richer) or richer owners. In fact I think Moyes is currently a big part of us overperforming the level that we should expect with the current ownership. In case I'm not clear, Moyes isn't the problem. Over performing i...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

The board all like Moyes so fully expect him to be offered a 2 year deal end of the season. There was no threat at all of a sacking in January, they all believe he is experienced enough to get out of any perceived down turn in form, as he has done before. Whether we like it or not the board like the...
