So, what was the consensus about this lot … are they worth venturing down Brighton way to see? Or just wait until they venture outside of Sussex?? :winker:

Re: Friday choons

I’ve got similar feelings to you Royston - however am intrigued to see what his attempts at Smiths songs are like nowadays. Having seen Johnny Marr a few times, he doesn’t pretend to copy Mozza but has developed his own vocal style … the guitar is still there and his backing band are tight, so they ...

Re: Educate me about.....

The Who are a bit of a Curate’s egg for me - good in parts. Early on they were like many other 60s artists, a singles band and some cracking singles there. Not enjoyed so much of their later stuff - although Quadrophenia, Baba O’Reilly and Won’t Get Fooled Again are good. A Quick One is probably the...

Ahhh - It’s over (at least for a while)! Thursday night football has been fantastic over the past 3 seasons - some memorable matches that will live long in the memory … and also Prague!

Thank you West Ham!

Whilst some say that it is the hope that kills you - reading the hope in many of these pre-match posts is fantastic. Gives me hope too … 3-0 with Coufal scoring the third thanks to a mistimed cross!!

Cloudbusting … Kate Bush tribute act fronted by an old school mate, who has impressive voice. At the Haymarket in Basingstoke - a hometown gig for Mandy (Kate) and a few old school mates going.

Re: Things that are gone that you miss

I can only imagine what working in an office was like before computers really took off, it must have been wonderful. Receiving letters, responding the next day, everything at a much more sedate pace. Of course the speed we all do things at now, has advantages, but it is certainly stress inducing. I...

Not sure if this should really make me smile that much but my uncle is at a funeral in Medallin, Colombia -
however, he is a Pompey fan and is keen to keep
abreast of their score tonight … I am texting him with updates.

Yes - good news Jim, you must be hugely relieved.

RigS, your post is not gloating in any sense at all. It’s clearly extremely important to you and is a huge positive after a whole load of stress and negativity - and there’s no reason that you shouldn’t share that news. Hope it all goes well.

Bottom live 2 on UK Gold enjoyable slapstick. Behind the sceens one this Thursday on Gold. I saw this on Saturday after I’d been to the pub - good quality slapstick that made me laugh a lot. The wonderful missus jaye also enjoyed it, although not quite as much as me and I got a few funny looks at t...

Re: Summer Holidays

We’re planning a slightly delayed Summer holiday this year … for December and Xmas. We’re looking to go to Laos and Cambodia - aside from Angkor Wat/Siem Reap and Koh Ron in Cambodia, we haven’t really got any idea yet of where else to go. We’ll be tagging on a short time in North Vietnam, where we ...

Re: Things that are gone that you miss

My oldest turned 18 last week. I found it quite emotional for a bit the day before, just thinking of the fact her childhood was over. I saw a dad with his little girl on the bus, and thought that's what I was doing with mine once. The thought of both of mine growing up and moving out is going to be...

Re: Grow 2021-24

Got out in the garden for the first time this year yesterday - due to wet weather, post op recovery and a couple of funerals. Did the first cut of the grass - set it at 70mm and will gradually reduce over the next few weeks. Then today, I pruned an apple tree that has been getting out of hand over t...

Re: Championship Thread

Unfortunately I think that whoever comes up will struggle next season and the yo-yoing will continue. Leicester and Leeds form is sketchy at the moment.

Southampton’s form is decent at the moment but I want them to miss out as a south coast derby with Pompey will be tasty.
