Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Agreed on Coufal...Really thought he was a player we needed to upgrade on but he's totally solid this season and his crossing has been excellent. He does seem to panic a bit in possession and gives the ball away with aimless lofted balls into no one but he gets far more right than he does wrong and ...

Re: Sam's ear
Allardyce wasn't working on a shoestring budget - he was well backed and bought some pretty decent players in. Much like Curbishley and now Moyes - when the first team was fit and able the football was decent, at other times it was rather attritional, but still managed to get the job done. Like Moye...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
How is he with his back to goal? Can he run the channels? Does he get into the box quickly after laying it off to a runner? Not only that, but what's he like with balls rifled into his general direction with a CB or two climbing on his back - if he can hold up and protect the ball and make a sensib...

Re: Ben Johnson
I like Ben Johnson, I think when he's had a run of games he's been decent and some of the "championship at best" remarks over years are incredibly harsh. However his principal value is as a homegrown and academy player...I can't see him ever really staking a claim for the first team and I ...

Re: (WHU related) FA CUP Lack of semi final appearances.
I wonder if there's a list of teams knocked out by the top 4 I bet we'd feature quite highly.steveyrockstar wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 1:31 pm It's a ***** record but I'm convinced we're cursed with cup draws. Whenever the team is doing well and looking a good bet for a cup run, we usually draw Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal or Spurs.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I agree with that Sendo - but also not to suggest that it wouldn't work on the third attempt but you simply can't ignore the patterns of history. I'd also say that 'sexy' football nearly always requires pretty damn good footballers...and signing them regularly without European football/competing at ...

I'm not having that either...
You can tell from what he said in that interview that it has hit his arm - but I'm not seeing conclusive proof in any of the videos...Looks to me like it's come of upper right arm/tit area... or stomach/left forearm

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Still not having it as a fool on the keeper...Aceface's 2nd image is a bit misleading - If Antonio had of put his arm across the keeper it's a maybe... But Martinez moves his own arm under Antonio's lifting Antonio's arm and tangles himself into Antonio... All quite frustrating but the bottom line i...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Finally seen a proper replay of the Kudus "goal". That just isn't a foul on the keeper ever. So poor from the referee. He links his arm under Antonios and goes around him, realises he's on the wrong side and then flaps across him. That the ref blew early is dreadful given all the "su...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Not sure about a time restriction - that would just lead to poor decisions but made faster. I think I'd go for a limited amount of cameras - one per side, no zooming in, no slow mo , no drawing lines looking for mm of offside...just naked eye. That way VAR would only benefit clear and obvious mistak...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Personally, I would like us to sign someone who is stepping up to play for us. I think Beier counts, I think Awoniyi counts, too. Not sure Scamacca or Haller did. I just think we need someone who might not demand a place based on attitude, so we can sometimes play them, sometimes go with Bowen. If ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
The Johnson for Antonio substitution simply didn't work out... so it was a poor move Antonio's been brilliant past few games...looked shattered and carrying a knock...needed to come off and any sub in that scenario is likely to be a drop in quality. But... Anyone who thinks we swapped a striker for...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Find it bizarre that folk think the drop off in performance was down to tactics and not the consequence of the team being knackered. Do the same folk think Emery told villa to play at walking pace in the first half? They obviously got a rocket at half time and made significant changes (stronger benc...

Re: West Ham United v Aston Villa: match thread (17.03.24)
Decent game and performance all around, both teams really only had enough in the tank to play one half at full pelt. Both our VAR goals were incredibly tough...neither are conclusive. Antonio's was the worst for me, Souceks looks like it hits his arm but you can't actually see for the post and the o...

Not even end of March and he's got 11 goals so far this season.
Anyone think of a player who scored more in his debut season for the club?

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
We've seen it in the middle of games as well - playing well on the front foot etc etc... concede a sloppy goal and suddenly we look all jittery and no confidence... That's all within the space of minutes. It's why the OLE's last night and the flicks n tricks in other games get on my nerves - No good...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I said to my brother and grandson that the Burnley game could be a turning point in the season. The difference in the first and second half performances should have taught him a long-term lesson. Interestingly it feels that with that line up we simplify things a great deal and know we can just laun...
