Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Three scenarios: 1) He's not good enough or suited to PL football, or takes too long to adjust. Outcome: we sign him. 2) He's actually very good (as reports now suggesting). Outcome: he rejects us for a better club. 3) He's actually very good and for some bizarre mystery, he is happy to come. Outcom...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

6ft 4 and lanky looking. What's the odds on him having any pace?

I think that was Ilan vs Everton wasn't it? The diving header?

Don't particularly remember Nene playing much?
yeah, it was Ilan. Textbook goal that was.

Nene scored 27 goals for PSG in a single season, 3 years before he joined us. How can I barely remember him?

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

That Czech fella looks like a lanky Fellaini type (he's 6' 4"). Might give us the power we need in CM, but not so sure about the pace. All academic anyway, because no way are we spending 20m Euros on anyone!

Re: Scrap the Whole team and restart

I'd have Antonio and Rice in any West Ham squad, Anderson is quality, and there are a number of players in this current squad I like for varying contributions (Noble, Ogbonna, Snodgrass, for a start). We certainly have serious weaknesses in this squad and gaping holes, but the problems are further-r...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Anthony Scully has 15 goals in 18 appearances. 5 assists too. Apparently he's a midfielder but I thought he had been playing up top. He was converted into a striker this season and been on fire ever since. Not heard him talked about being close to the first-team though, and I think he's already 21.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Would you elaborate on the "we'll be cheaper" bit. Why? Without quoting the article, the implication was that the club's value in the C'ship would be significantly less, thus (supposedly) making us more appealing to investors who would then have more money to spend on strengthening the squad. I jus...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

I don't remember him at all, but his record at PSG suggests he should've been quite a high profile signing. I presumed we must've signed him after a major injury, or when his career was in massive decline, as is usually the way.

EDIT: I blame the coaching. :D

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Baldock, Zarate, Sakho, Borrielo? Maybe even Valencia, Chamakh, Carew, Maiga? Certainly Nene, Brian Montenegro and Wellington Paulista. Fairly endless list. Had to look up Nene. Only have very, very faint recollection of a player called that playing for us. He scored a ton for PSG before us. How di...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

If Claret & Hugh is a mouthpiece, then an article published yesterday suggests the board do want to sell up, and that it's easier to sell if we are relegated because we'll be cheaper.

I don't think we're signing anyone this week.

Re: Lampard and Rio

If we had 2 youngsters of the quality of RIo and Frank, they'd be in the side right now. In fact, we do have one, and he's been a regular for the last 3 seasons: Rice.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Byram was on relatively low wages, didn’t take up a non home grown squad place, was young enough to improve, we got a very small fee and no replacement was bought in. The decision to move him on was symptomatic of the penny pinching balancesheet#1 focus of the summer that is the root cause of the *...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Why are we targeting a right back at this time instead of a CM or Striker? We already have Zab, Johnson and Freds and Antonio can play right RWB. We are an injury to Rice or Haller away from being straight in the deep doo-doo! Replacing Kouyate and Obiang with Wilshere and Sanchez wasn't great was ...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

We urgently need a striker who can play alongside Haller, as well as back him up in event of (God forbid) an injury. We need an athletic, box to box CM. It's not rocket science. If they do get anyone, I bet the dildos will probably get another duo on loan like those Italian chaps from a few years ba...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Sanchez out and Reece Oxford back? Just hypothisising I thought Oxford had gone on loan to some Dutch side after struggling at Augsburg, but seems he hadn't and is now being linked to Luton. Luton and, ironically, Oxford United, both seem to be the place where all former West Ham youth players end ...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Is Kessie the guy we were linked to in the summer? I'd never heard of him before, but the overwhelming feeling I got at the time (from memory) was that he was a pretty good shout. Or am I thinking of someone different?

Sigh, if only we'd signed Hayden in the summer... He would've been such an important player for us this season.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

If the Standard are reporting Kessie, it's got to have some legs. They're about the most reliable news source for West Ham news, in my opinion. As for Cullen, I actually find it incredulous we've not recalled him given our current dearth of CM options. I can only presume the management are 100% conv...

Muzzy Izzet, massive Hammer. We were linked with him at least 3,454 times, a la Dean Holdsworth, Rob Lee and Ray Parlour. The 90's Jonjo Shelvey, basically.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020

Speaking of Newcastle and Shelvey, my mate bought a skillet pan from the ironmonger who makes Jonjo Shelvey's boutique cast-iron cookware. Apparently, it's a done deal that he's coming here.
