Re: Opta ranks PL teams' run=ins

The fact that that Chelsea and Newcastle are ranked to have the easiest run-ins doesn't make that reading any easier!

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Like most European leagues, the Bundesliga is gradually being turned into a farmers league by the financial muscle of the EPL. Most have three decent teams, plus the rest, the also rans. Leverkusen have to a certain extent broken that mold this season, but theyve had to come from behind in both leg...

Anyone think of a player who scored more in his debut season for the club?

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Leverkusen have got a few players who've been heavily linked to us in the recent past: Jonathan Tah, Patrick Schick and Adam Hlozek.

In fact, weren't there murmurings we'd be in for Boniface in Jan, as unrealistic as that sounded?

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Are Bayer Leverkusen having something of a breakout/surprise season, or are they a genuine powerhouse? Never heard of them as German heavyweights prior to this season.

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

I'm just ****ing relieved to have avoided Liverpool. Nothing worse than drawing another English side in Europe, especially one you rarely beat! Draw still seems a bit suspect though - notice that Liverpool defo got the 'weaker' side of the draw. Can't see Atalanta, Marseille or Benfica causing them ...

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Liverpool would just be the worst draw ever. Not only would we be very unlikely to beat them, it deprives us of a big, historical European adventure. I'd be excited to face any of the other clubs. Problem is, for years, we seem to get absolutely ***** cup draws whenever things really matter. Can rar...

If we draw Liverpool tomorrow, which will ****ing happen, I will cry.

Anyone but ****ing liverpool.

If we’re to go out, let’s at least have a historical European tie. Not play a bunch of ***** we meet twice a year already.

They paid £10m for him in the same January window we bought Ings.
Did you not see Ings against Burnley though? He’s developed into the greatest striker known to mankind.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

And they both have the owners who can simply write off losses if the proposed 85% percentage of revenue rules come in. It really is let the rich get richer and screw the rest. Let’s take us and Newcastle. Currently the revenues are not hugely disproportionate and under the current system it is a re...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I’m far too young to remember his grand-dad but can remember Kenny Brown Jnr as a back up left back / utility man under Bonds as manager. Would be nice to see a 3rd generation hammer 👍🏻 Were he to ever play for the first-team, it would surely be the first time in the club's history that three gener...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

These rumours of Bruno going to Man City, aren't Newcastle theoretically a richer club than Man City now?

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely hate for Newcastle to become another super-power, but these tightened FFP/PRP rules are definitely working in stopping others from breaking the top.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

It's too late in the day to negotiate with Paqueta. - We should have done it last summer Extra 75k a week and release clause of £100m would have increased our return on him. Why's it too late? And besides how would we have negotiated a new improved deal with Paqueta last summer when a) Man City wer...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I was saying the exact same thing about Fofana at the game yesterday. He looks a serious prospect. I reckon he'll become this summer's Broja - a Chelsea loan player who had a great game against us, and who Moyes identifies as his no.1 striker target. And Chelsea will no doubt umm and ahh all summer,...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips

Hospital passes and touches leading directly to goals, red card, dropped, hooked at halftime. Been a disaster! Unquestionably, I only ever recall Pogatetz as being someone who looked genuinely lost at sea when on the football pitch, no idea where to stand, run or kick the ball to. KP hasn’t been mu...

Fast becoming our worst ever loan signing after Pogatetz.

He currently makes Mike Newell look like Di Canio, and Ray Atteveld like Joe Cole :crossed:

Seems a top bloke though. Really hope he turns it round - but thus far it's been a disaster.
