Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Broja and a Dennis or Bayo would be good. Broja on his own would be underwhelming. Edit: maybe the World Cup in November is a consideration Broja, Lingard and Lewis-Potter would be the dream ticket for me. Would sort our forwards out with a great blend of experience, potential and ability. Add in A...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Remember Giles Barnes? Was spoken of in the same terms as Gareth Bale when they were at Southampton. Sank without trace. Giles Barnes! There's a name from the past that I'd completely forgotten about. A super promising kid from Derby if I recall. I was desperate for us to sign him and pissed off wh...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Ward-Prowse is an excellent player, but at £65m and 28 before Xmas he’s too expensive in relation to our budget with very limited resale value. Don’t blame Saints for that value, he’s their main man and like us with Rice losing him is a serious issue with the fan base only solved by a huge fee and ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

C&H seems to think Kalvin Phillips could be Villa bound, partly because he's apparently changing agents to Gerrard's agent. No idea if true or not but if Villa were to sign Phillips and Bassey, I'd be gobsmacked. They would surely have to be offering crazy, crazy wages to lure these players, or ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I'm very surprised to see that Ward-Prowse, who is 28 next season, signed a new 5 year contract with the Saints last year, especially given how highly rated he seems to be. Seems to suggest he is happy to stay at the Saints for his career given how much bargaining power that gives the club - or mayb...

Re: The 25th annual KUMB Awards: Vote Now!

It's always a contentious issue stevey and every year I contemplate removing it, but I tend to leave it in these days for a bit of fun as it's always been there. And I think looking at the past list of winners also gives us some notion of just how far WHU have come as a club during KUMB's time; twe...

Re: The 25th annual KUMB Awards: Vote Now!

I voted: HOTY - Rice Young HOTY - B Johnson Match of the year - Sevilla 2-0 Goal of the year - Lanzini vs Palace Best signing - Zouma Worst signing - Vlasic (didn't vote for Kral because he was only a loan and Vlasic has been an almighty flop imo) Worst player - 'left blank' Moment of the year - Yar...

Re: The 25th annual KUMB Awards: Vote Now!

Hackett of the Year is a tough one this year! Couldn't choose between the Lyon ref, Zouma and Rio. Also, I still think that an option for 'worst player of the year' should just be 'no-one'. I know you can leave it blank (which I did), but presumably it still means that a player will get the majority...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Bentancur and Kulusevski were very tidy signings but not sure if he had much to do with that? Before his time? :chin: My spurs mates all say that their Jan signings absolutely transformed them, Kulu especially. They're desperate for them to sign perm, and no doubt they will. Oh to think what would ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Nothing really new in that piece. But interesting to note he mentions we want a left back but doesn’t offer up a name. It’s surely obvious who would be the preferred left back, so let’s hope that Moyes is making the attempt. I thought it was interesting that Steinberg doesn't mention Dennis, who ot...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

C&H has been hinting for a few weeks now about disharmony with Soucek.

Very weird and completely unthinkable based on the previous season's form. He's had a disappointing season, but was superb for 18months before that. Still an important player.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

If we assume Lingard and someone like Dennis from Watford comes in then I think two out of Lanzini/Fornals/Vlasic or Benrahma need to leave. Who goes? We should be signing a striker (eg Dennis) no matter what. That shouldn't impact departures. I think if we get Lingard AND Lewis-Potter though, whic...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

C&H claiming that we'll sell Soucek if a decent offer comes in, and we've decided against offering him a better contract. It worries me that on top of the departing players we need to replace and squad holes we need to fill, we're all potentially looking to replace some first-teamers like Souce...
