Re: ✍ Welcome, Jarrod Bowen

As usual with injuries Moyes is playing his cards close to his chest. In the press conference he twists his body a bit when he talks about 'twisting like a fast bowler' which hints he means Bowen's low back or pelvis. The mechanism, a knee in the low back, also suggests this. Fast bowlers are prone ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

That's only one metric. Of course. I should have made it clear I was citing the Swiss Ramble blogger/football finance analyst who has crunched the numbers and concluded " success on the pitch is almost invariably reserved for clubs that have spent the most on wages and transfer fees ." Th...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Battling for 6th-8th position is, financially at least, the maximum we can hope to achieve & we have done that 3 out of the last 4 seasons, we're also in our 3rd consecutive European Qtr final. I agree Dasnutnock, we are already at the limit of the club's potential with .Moyes as manager. The i...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Claret and Hugh are reporting he has grown tired of all the negative press and since Steidten will have more say and control going forward, he has decided to throw in the towel at the season's end. Don't shoot the messenger, it is out there for all to read. I found it on MSN Taken literally, this d...

Re: Where will we finish?

I drafted a response at the start of the season but didn't submit for some reason. My guesstimate at that time was 9th which came from Swiss Ramble's observation that league position is highly correlated with squad wages. I added a couple of places because I think the management team add some value ...

Re: Stopping the cheating

In head injuries it is tricky to strike a balance between protecting players and minimising chances of Artetas gaming the system. Current guidelines from the FA are clear about what should be done after concussion is identified but vague on how and who should identify head injuries during games. &qu...

Re: Dear Citizens of the Peoples Republic of KUMB

But seriously. This site is good because it's relatively civil. I hate having to wade through personal disputes. If people want a fight they can go to somewhere like X/Twitter. And that's because a lot of the mods dedicate an incredible amount of hours tidying threads on a daily basis. Can't stress...

Re: ✍ Welcome Emerson Palmieri

These machines help to reduce the swelling. Hyperbaric Oxygen is supposed to promote soft-tissue healing which might include reducing swelling (there are other less relevant uses and claims). There is fairly good research evidence to support its use where there is poor blood supply, hence poor oxyg...

That would be my guess. He's not wearing a hospital gown. In his IG story you can see the curve of the tank in the top left background.

Re: Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool (non WHU!)

Genuinely think this is a stress issue. You only have to look at how he behaves on the touch line and in post match press conferences versus how he seems in interviews where he is detached from the day to day to see how the pressure gets to him. It’s like watching two different people. No criticism...

Re: Sheffield Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread

I think this is it. Far too embarrassing for their mate to look at the monitor multiple times in quick succession. It's admitting that he can't do his job properly. It was clear from the episode when the Liverpool VAR communications were made public that the process was far too chummy. The results ...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

Should never have been risked playing, let alone still starting in the Arsenal game after pulling up with a muscular injury in the warm-up and then subsequently rushed back too soon in my opinion starting against Bristol City just 10 days later. I predicted before the game kicked off in that bitter...

Re: West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion: match thread

The ideal game since it confirmed the narratives of both the Moyes outers ... - Safety-first low block - Baffling substitution - Respecting the point after 70 minutes - Should have tonked a team there for the taking with 8 (or7?) first team out.[/list] ...and the Moyes inners - Nicked a point agains...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

SSN saying possible knee ligament damage. Hope Pacs message is more on the money. His instagram story (31.12.23) has a picture of what looks like electrical muscle stimulation electrodes on his calf. This suggests a calf muscle injury rather than knee ligaments. The gastrocnemius muscle attaches to...

Re: Arsenal vs West Ham United: match thread

I often go to this game as I can walk from home and have a couple of mates who are Arsenal season ticket holders. I always expect to lose and am rarely disappointed. I'm content if we put in a decent performance, such is the way of being a West Ham fan. After seeing the line-up I was steeling myself...

It's a cynical, snide ploy that's even worse than an obvious betting company advert in my view. Looks like that’s the play. Hopefully they’ve showed their hand too early and the rules can be adjusted. It's possible they are dipping their toe in the water to see how much pushback they get, or am I cr...

It’s a good question to ask if you weren't around at the time. The short answer to my mind is that Lyall and Greenwood are respected by fans of a certain age more for how they created West Ham’s identity - a team that plays the right way and has the occasional cup success - than for their league res...
