Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

Alonso said............ “West Ham, they have good players, good energy and credit to them, we found it really hard [because] they were totally different to what they did in Leverkusen. Yes, to be honest the best team at half-time was clear in the result. Happily, we had a reaction in the second half...

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

Should have got at them in the first leg instead of trying to contain them or at least changed it up and had a go at some point. If you don't try to win then you can't win. If we had taken the game to them in that first leg as we did yesterday, we would be through imo, they were scared of us and mad...

It is no ignomony if going out to the top current German club, it was the luck of the draw. But we can do our part and get behind them to lift them the best we can. COYI :scarfer:

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

It's not just a defeat tonight that worries me but the weeks ahead. Nothing short of a glorious win and there will be nothing but negative gloom & doom for the next month. Exhaustion, bickering, injuries, contract crap, a pitiful end of season submission - then the transfer window ahead to add t...

Re: Out of Contract Players June 30 2024

Johnson needs to further his career, it would be wrong to keep him as cover. In fact I doubt even if the old 'uns want end their days permanently sitting on the bench. I think Antonio might go to USA (can't remember where I read it). Coufal has said he'd like to end his career in his own country. So...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

His talent does not compensate for his petulance. His clever passing does compensate for his ball losses. His inspiration to the team does not compensate their frustration. Respect has to be earned. All these mistakes can be avoided if he was more professional and less self indulgent. £100m? Regretf...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

I don't think Leverkusen 'won' that game at the end more than we 'lost' it. We were tired, battered, without a plan, fresh legs, ambition or leadership. Until the first goal we were flattered only by the exploits of our keeper.

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Disappointed in the lack of captaincy. We need someone to gee the team up, get in the ref’s face and calm players down when they need to. Zouma has been a fantastic player for us, but a skipper he ain’t. Been saying it for ages Doc, we lack leadership. As good and tenacious as Bowen is, he's not it...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

I couldn't give a chuff who we're playing and where, I want us to do our best to win. Not sit back, let the oppo have 32 shots (13 on target) then pretend we've done well. I have to agree to a point. If you are going to park the bus it had better work and at least at some point in the game plan, ch...

27% possession, one shot all game. I know the plan was classic defensive Moyesball, which was fine, but one shot?
