Re: Making hip-hop - advice needed

I'd be very happy to work on some stuff with you. We could do most of it online, but you'd need to get to Brighton to record the vocal. I'm pretty sure I could bully my son into helping. He's a producer and runs a label, mostly dubby ambient trip hoppy kind of stuff but he could put a coat of hip h...

Re: Making hip-hop - advice needed

Thanks for all the tips. I have tried looking for ready-made beats but find that, because I had already worked out lyrics and hooks for one song, I can't make it work on a pre-existing track so will have to follow the 'find a producer' suggestion. Going forward, I'll find an available beat I like an...

Making hip-hop - advice needed

Imagine you had a load of rap lyrics but no rhymes, and little technical or musical ability. How would you get some beats? I'm a bit stuck but eager to fulfill a mid-life ambition.

Looking forward to being told to shout over a car alarm etc.

Re: The Monarchy

TOMOS, I'm a republican. I have no animosity towards the Princess of Wales, nor I was I obsessing over her whereabouts, her health or anything else. In fact, I'd suggest most of that came from Royal-obsessed sources like The Daily Mail etc. Republicans don't especially care where Royals are every mi...

Re: What did you watch last night?

Very slowly making my way through A Murder at the End of the World on Disney+. Quite slow but two interesting mysteries to be solved, engaging setups and good cast (including Clive Owen). It is very millennial but don't let that put you off. Also watched Grime Kids on iPlayer, which is a very sweet ...

Daniel Ings is brilliant. He's frequently the best thing in whatever he appears in.

Re: Sudden disappearances into obscurity

Some brilliant ones here.

I suspect there was more to this but Danny Gabbidon was outstanding for us for a while, and looked an even better buy than Collins for a bit. Then he just sort of disappeared. I know he want elsewhere eventually but he was never as good again.

Doesn't make the UK figure less depressing but the most recent figures show the UK had death by stabbings rate of 0.08% per 100,000 people, the US had 0.6% so it is actually worse there.

Re: The Sunak Government 2022-

Is deciding not to connect Manchester via HS2 effectively a way of saying the Northern Powerhouse project is now a write off? If so, as a political move by a party relying on the old red wall constituencies of The North for victory, it does seem a bit like political suicide by the Tories. Interestin...

He's much, much worse than that. Ironically the stories about him have largely been ignored by the mainstream media.

Dan Wootton

Quite a lot to unpack with all the stuff going on at GB News but I would imagine they might be glad to have an excuse to get Dan Wootton of the screen now. When someone is so toxic that Mail Online have ditched him, you know he's got to be a proper Lawro. Brief summaries here: https://bylinetimes.co...

Re: Russell Brand

Bit of a side note but some years ago I went to a Morrissey gig. About four songs in, Moz lost his voice and left the stage. Three people came out to address the crowd and say he wouldn't be coming back on. They were David Walliams, Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross. Given what Morrissey has become, w...

Didn't realise that. I thought he just turned up for a bit, dropped some wisdom and disappeared.

Re: 8 July 2023

The older I get, the more I like them and wish I had the money and time to go to this gig. Growing up in Clacton, I well remember the vitriol they got locally (sort of a local band) when they graffiti'd 'Modern Life is rubbish' somewhere on the seafront. Totally disowned, then suddenly forgiven and ...
