Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
People seem to have rapidly forgotten that, when Paqueta was out for a few weeks, we looked like we couldn't string 3 passes together. Like it or not, he's absolutely key to us not getting dismantled. If/when he leaves in the summer, it's going to require a big restructure to replace him. For me, he...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips
Don't have a problem with the penalty, which I don't think should've been a penalty. But Barnes' winner? No effort at all to close that shot down. Maddening.

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
If we lose Paqueta to City, for me it'll feel worse than losing Rice to Arsenal. That one was expected; this one feels like a death spiral. Naturally after one (quite mixed) season with us, he'd be keen to join the best team in the world. So even if we hardball to keep him (which I think we might do...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
This window is obviously shambolic, not least because of the briefing – and counter briefing – from the different factions behind the scenes at the club. But equally, I'm not getting too panicked yet. The Borges deal is something I can live with. The fee was quite a lot of money for someone entirely...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
I would spend £50m on Connor Gallagher. I can't see any of our current targets making as material a difference to our starting XI, and having better resale value in a couple of years. Nasty, cynical market, and I think that price looks decent.

Re: Banned from first Europa League away game next season
Good to see people are generally supportive of this ban. If that had been Dec, bleeding from the head in a European final thanks to a Fiorentina fan, we'd have been urging them to be kicked out of the competition next year.
Think we've gotten off pretty lightly, all things considered.

Re: ✍ Manuel Lanzini
I'm also thinking back to that time, I think last season, when he was struggling for form and to break back into the XI. Came on as a sub against Villa (I think, might have been Watford) wriggled through the defence and then squared for Bowen to tap in. I cannot think of a single other attacking pla...

Re: ✍ Manuel Lanzini
I've gone back and watched a few games from that 2015/16 season recently, and Lanzini was as influential to that team as Payet. As his best, he was perhaps the most natural footballer I've seen at West Ham. Passing, shooting, dribbling: he had a little bit of everything (except heading or tackling!)...

Re: New captain if / when
My suspicion is it'll be Soucek – has been (basically) ever present for 2.5 years, and captains his national side. Moyes rates him hugely, he clearly has the right attitude for the role, and plays in the middle of the pitch which is an advantage. The only other candidate I could really see would be ...

Re: Declan Rice
David Sullivan is a dinosaur. He thinks that business is still conducted in tabloid gossip columns and on talk radio, when serious clubs do their business with super-agents on super-yachts. All the same, it's clearly the right time for Rice to leave. He leaves on a massive high and we get a massive ...

Re: ⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Really bad. Can't remember us looking so bad. Brighton are obviously better than us, but still... Looked to me like a squad management issue. The Saturday fixture followed by Wednesday in the cup, then Saturday again and with a looming Thursday: that's a tough run for any squad, let alone one that's...

Re: ⚽ Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham Utd: match thread
Is relegation the end of the world? No. Is it desirable? Also no. I do think that our issue is, simply, chance conversion. On defence alone, we would not be in the relegation mix (though the pool is still very wide). But we score very little and seem to have few options. This has been a problem wait...

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: match thread
Thank god, some points. The difference between first half Declan Rice and second half Declan Rice was huge. Zouma clear MotM for me, followed by Fornals. And god bless Coufal, who gets his head down, runs 40 years at a tear, passes to Bowen who then proceeds to dribble that whole distance back to hi...

Re: Season Tickets and digital ticketing
Apologies if this is a question that has been answered a million times by people on this thread, but I have two season tickets and tend to give my spare to lots of different friends. Is this now impossible? Once the NFC is downloaded onto someone's phone, presumably it can't be downloaded onto anoth...

Re: Season Ticket Renewals - Please click link and sign petition
There is just absolutely no way that my 75yo father is going to be able to use this. I'm also concerned about how difficult this is going to make handing my, or his, ticket over to someone else. The QR code was so easy, it was a real blessing. This seems a faff designed to push me towards paying ext...

Re: ⚽ Eintracht Frankfurt v West Ham United: match thread
Hard to process last night. The big disappointment for me is not the result, but that the game fell flat after 19 minutes thanks to the red card. I think it was shaping up to be a really exciting, hard-fought tie, and it would've been easier to stomach losing if we'd been able to give it a proper go...

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham Utd FAC5: match thread
Christ, some really hysterical stuff in this thread tonight. Shame to be out the cup but we were outplayed by a Southampton team in great form and for whom the FA Cup is their season's be-all and end-all. Disappointing that we let Southampton win the game after we equalised (and looked the more like...

Very last minute but does anyone fancy two free tickets to today’s game? I’m stuck out of town so happy to give them away. Re: ⚽ Arsenal vs West Ham Utd: match thread
P.S. My only option as yet is the Pfzer booster and that I won't be having. Most I know have been poor with it, including guy who sits next to me in BM Upper, my immediate family and friends (2 of which have been hospitalised and 1 in ICU) so I think I'll put booster on hold until they have an alte...
