Super wet parkrun yesterday, cold rain and so many puddles. Still felt great after doing it though.
Well done to all those that got out and ran yesterday

Re: Sobriety
Agree with the above re the 0% stuff.
I really felt like getting stuck in last night, so had a couple of cans of Lucky Saint.
Satisfied the urge, no backdraft........
Urge has gone this morning, onwards and upwards.

Re: The Parkrun thread
I did Tooting (my local PR) at the weekend. Wet and muddy.
Am doing Durleston this Saturday (Swanage). Done it before, it's a lovely PR with great views along the coast path, but so hilly.....

Re: West Ham United FC Vs Arsenal FC Match thread
Thank you to the kind 1966 ticket holders who gave my daughter one of their spare vouchers for a programme.
Reading it during the match distracted her somewhat from the gubbins on the pitch.

Re: Sobriety
After going to last night's game (and not drinking), combined with the Benny/Pablo transfer shambles, I really need a drink now........
Puts kettle on.

Great work Captain!
And thanks to everyone on this thread, getting dry January done was certainly helped by the supportive comments and suggestions from everyone here.
May think about having dry alternate months or something similar.

Re: Sobriety
Hey Dan Fair question to raise. I am looking forward to a glass of red wine next weekend, but you are right, I have proved I can do it through January and so I will be drinking a lot less, and less often, going forward. As said before, the zero alcohol beers I have discovered this month are real gam...

Re: Sobriety
Less than a week of dry January to go. We can do this!
Actually been quite a bit easier than expected, and will definitely impact my drinking habits afterwards. Some of these zero alcohol drinks have been a revelation.

Re: Sobriety
Guinness Zero is really good. I have found it really helpful on a Saturday night when I really fancy a drink during dry January. Looks, smells and tastes the same as standard Guinness as far as I can tell, so my body thinks it is having a drink......

Re: The Parkrun thread
Tooting parkrun was called off due to ice on the course. So I did Clapham Common Parkrun instead. Did 25 minutes which I was pleased with given how busy it was and how slow the start was. Almost 1300 people there this morning!

Re: Sobriety
Mostly drink water now, but will have a 0% or 0.5% beer when I want something to sip. Had a 0% Guinness with lunch yesterday. I'm at the point of wondering why anyone would bother with the alcoholic variants, such is the minimal difference in taste between the two. Think of it like this - you've be...

Doing dry January for the first time. Not really missing the booze to be honest.
And got under 25 minutes at Parkrun this morning, so there are other benefits.........

The Parkrun thread
New year's resolutions and all that.....thought I would see if there is any interest in a specific Parkrun thread to share experiences etc. Great turnout this morning at Tooting Common Parkrun, despite the course being very wet. I ran just over 25 minutes, hoping to go sub-25 minutes soon.... How wa...

Sadiq Khan and family, walking on Tooting Common on Christmas morning. Two close protection officers walking just behind.
Have seen him a few times around the Balham/Tooting area over the years (he lives in Tooting).

Re: Official Betting Thread
Great shout on the JWP bets, thanks for flagging the opportunity. Definite value there. Just to flag something (and to gloat a little), William Hill now offer whether a player will score with a header (as opposed to just scoring). So I got 100/1 on Mavropanos to score with a header, with a JWP assis...

I read on the Guardian website this week that this Christian B likes/liked to keep "trophies" related to his crimes/victims, and that he referred to the lake in question as his "paradise". https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/may/25/madeleine-mccann-latest-searches-in-portuga...
