Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

It seems only an Antonio clone will do. Hoping I’m proved wrong in the next few weeks. Personally I think that's a good thing. We thrive with Antonio up front, and getting someone who can essentially play the same style, if not necessarily as well immediately, is key to keeping the chemistry of the...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Signing Carvalho is certainly the sort of shrewd move we should look to make, but I'm not sure we should expect a 19 year old signed from the Championship with sub-20 first team appearances in their career to fire us to a top 6 finish in the league. Definitely one we'd be signing with an eye to the ...

Re: Spurs WHU Ladies

Been a long time since the women's team has done this well. Went over to the Man City academy stadium a few times to see them before now and we've always been given a hounding. One of them I think we were 0-4 down at half time and I went to get a cuppa, caught the eye of a clutch of folks from Pride...

Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?

Leicester have 11 first-teamers unavailable for their game against Spurs. Hope it gets called off, for multiple reasons. But mainly because given it’s already anarchy, the best we can hope for now is a truly ludicrous fixture pile up for Tottenham from now until May. It's a shame they got knocked o...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Haksabanovic wasn't a Moyes signing, signed for us in the summer of 2017 under Bilic. Supposedly a sweetener in the Arnautovic deal or something, I can't remember exactly. Regardless of whether every signing Moyes has made is a success (no manager has a 100% record in the transfer market, anyway) th...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread

That was a damn good game of football. Don't really even care that we lost, I had as much fun watching that as I have watching us win some of the big games against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea this season. We could have escaped with a draw, whether we should have or deserves to is questionable...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

If we loan a CB this window, they have to improve on Dawson. Diop has shown quality. Dawson was only really signed as a stopgap in the first place and plays like one too often. It shouldn't be hard to do that - the issue is whether any of the many CBs out there which meet that brief are available. I...

Re: Is now a good time for the season to be suspended?

I see Arsenal are now having discussions with the Premier League about potentially calling off their match against Spurs - only Odegaard is known to be out due to Covid, they also have four players away at AFCON and Xhaka suspended due to his sending off, then subsequently have four injuries plus tw...

Re: Welcome, Jarrod Bowen

If Bowen was burying the chances he is involved in at 1 in 2 rather than 1 in 3, he'd be approaching Salah levels in terms of stats. West Ham fans pointing this out does not mean we do not think he is any good, or that would should "get rid" if someone bids a mere £27.5m, but then a West ...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

He will never develop an end product! It's an interesting one, Traore, because I remember when Wolves signed him from Middlesbrough for whatever ridiculous sum it was (£18m or something?) he'd only had something like two assists in the Premier League before over two seasons with Villa and Boro, and...

To be fair to Moyes, he started it with Arnautovic.

Unless you go further back and count Sam's 450 formation!
I know he wasn't always effective, but it does seem harsh to consider Andy Carroll as a '0'!

Re: Welcome, Jarrod Bowen

Bowen's xG is about 3 more than he's actually scored, in the league, this season. Now, there's a lot to be said for stats not being the be all and end all. But there is an argument that he needs to be more clinical in front of goal. That said, having 5 at the halfway point of the season for us is pr...

Re: ✍ Alex Král

I'm surprised we haven't seen a Rice - Kral - Soucek midfield three at some point this season. I think Kral would be ideal as a deeper central midfielder behind those two against teams where a lot of passing comes from central midfield.

Re: Lukasz Fabianski signs

Have we made a better signing than Fabianski since Payet? Came in, immediately improved our GK situation, and has been solid ever since. While I think he's slowed down in terms of reactions this season, for sure, he has also made saves like the one against Norwich which have kept clean sheets. I thi...

Re: ✍ Nikola Vlasic

I mean, we absolutely do. We have one of only a handful of players that have been retrospectively punished for diving turning out for us now. There's a lot to be said for earning a foul, or at the very least showing that you have been fouled. In the game now, if you don't go down with some kind of t...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I dunno, they're doing ok, giving themselves an outside chance of staying up despite the points deduction. I meant more off the pitch than anything, most recent rumour was that Mike Ashley was going to buy them! They've got midtable form this season, 32 points, so it really is just the administrati...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

:newthumb: We're probably put off by Hickey's price given his age. I'd love to see us send Longelo the other way in exchange for 18 months. Give him time to show he can do it at that level while we have a young player who can cover for Cresswell. Not sure any of our youngsters should be going out o...

So when Soucek comes back in who drops out..Fornals or Vlasic and when Benny comes back is it Fornals Vlasic or Benny.Nobody is shifting Lanzini so I will ask again without knocking Vlasic was he an important buy for us. None of them 'drop out', exactly - they'll still be involved regularly, some t...

SSN reporting that NUFC have now offered for Seville defender Diego Carlos. Newcastle are not messing about and are buying in bulk this window. Newly flush with cash and a first team that currently sits two points behind 17th, and a whole 8 points behind 16th. Burnley have two games in hand and cou...

Oh god.. I hope not, having watched him at Yeovil Town, I still can't believe he has made it to the Championship, and plays International football, albeit for Wales.. I'd never live it down around here, if that donkey signed for West Ham.. I really can't believe anybody who played for Yeovil can ma...
