Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks

Three of us took food donations to the Liverpool foodbank on Monday night and had a good chat with some of their volunteers.

They asked us to pass on their thanks for all the bank notes donated by our travelling fans

If anyone is on the way to any of the pre-match events then please drop by with a tin or a few bob, it all makes a difference to Newham Foodbank. Re: Protests against the board being planned

I'd gladly donate for this. Merseyside has (or had, not sure how recent the articles were and it's all in my memory) the highest foodbank usage in the country. A few of us from Irons Supporting Foodbanks will be making a donation to their foodbank appeal. Their collection van will be at the away end.

Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks

Thanks to all who dropped donations off and put cash in the buckets yesterday. We collected about 50 kg of food and toiletries and a few £100's in cash. We'll know the exact amount on Wednesday. That's over a third of a tonne collected in about 7 hours since we started. By comparison, I was invited ...

Re: RIP Fred Wickert aged 87

Do you know where in Lincolnshire he was from/lived? Assuming he moved north instead of to Essex/Kent, the usual alternatives. RIP Fred - from one Lincs hammer to another! I admire your dedication. He lived near Wragby in North Lincs. His pal Mick Parsley who lived nearby used to pick him up and th...

Re: RIP Fred Wickert aged 87

The family has asked if Fred could be remembered tomorrow with applause at the 87th minute. I'm told by the club these tributes are now fan-led, so if applause starts then they will put up a photo of Fred on the main screens.

It's up to us to get the word out.

Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks

We're back again tomorrow collecting for Newham Foodbank at the same location, from 12 until 2.30pm. For those attending the demo, we're only a few minutes walk away on the next bridge so come over and see us. Any effort would be really appreciated. There was an article published yesterday reporting...

RIP Fred Wickert aged 87

Fred sadly passed away at his home in Lincolnshire last weekend. He was a home and away season ticket holder, and mostly travelled to games with his pal Mick, in his 70's, who drove them. He would always be sat in the front row at away games with his Bovril, and always had time for a chat. I had the...

Re: Irons Supporting Foodbanks

What you do as football fans for the community doesn't go un-noticed by the general public. The One Show were filming the football foodbank activity at the Liverpool cup derby on Sunday. I'm told that this will feature on the programme this evening or Thursday at 7pm. Also, Liverpool city and Newcas...
